Name is Scott. Lived in Japan for 4 (1995-1999) years and that’s what everyone called me. It’s easier to say than the great white ninja

dirtyfunkg is a handle I've had since early high school.

dirtyfunk - I was really into distorted funk rock like RHCP through the '90's, Faith No More / Bungle, etc.

The first band I was in that wrote original material. Founded in 85. When Pantera was Glamtera. Demos recorded at Pantego Sound with Vince Abbott behind the board and both Darrell and Vince bagging on us the whole time saying "That heavy thrash shit will never sell." Walter was such a badass rhythm guitar player I soon quit playing bass and switched to guitar. Walt is still my biggest influence to this day.

That's an awesome story!

Hale is my middle name, internet just started and I needed a quick name for my mailbox-halebox

So my name is Jeremy... big surprise with the Jer part. The "Evil" comes from my punk band Cherry 2000. We had a little legal issue back in the late 90's and changed out name to Doctor Evil! for a minute. We did a whole Ramones thing with Eric Evil, Ben Evil, etc. When I found the boards I just went with JerEvil as it seemed easy and rolled off the tongue.

I think we did this years ago either here or on HC, but curious how some people came up with their forum names (Dickbutternuts you are exempt from this exercise) :D

Ok, you can tell us. I'm just afraid I'll have to shower after I hear how that name was devised......LOL

Squank is a song on ZZ Top's First Album. I've been a ZZ fan since the 70s.

I was Japetus462 on HC. Then I came here, then I left and came back. In Arthur C. Clarke's 2001: A Space Odyssey, the moon of Saturn in the Jovian system was called Japetus. It was once a moon, with huge seas and very little land. Massive waves. The real spelling is Iapetus. Iapetus was a Titan, son of Uranus and Gaea, and father of Atlas...the God of Mortality. The 462 was before Tool did it.

Oh yeah, that name sounds familiar!

Anytime I see anyone that was on HC, it is like an old war buddy that I survived with....LOL!

I am a big fan of LOTR. Read the book 10 times before the movies came out. Named myself after The Nine Black Riders. The Servants of Sauron. The Ringwraiths. I am Wraith on fishing forums.

Funny. I have a friend named Grant who lived in Japan. His name eventually became "Gulanto" - as the typical sounding way a Japanese person would say Grant.

Lived in Japan on and off for 10 years in the military.
All the local workers always called me ‘DanielSon!’ll
They would tease me from the Karate kid movie.

I was gtkdev on HC, also still use that for eBay and The Gear Page. GTK is an open-source development toolkit used for the GNOME project (Linux gui) and other graphic widgets. Dev is, well, development. It was a particular type of development I was into for a short stint.

That’d have to be Okinawa. My wife is Okinawan. I was there from 95 to 99. I go back ever couple years. When I retire I am moving there. We’ll have property and a large house paid for and socialized medicine do I won’t go broke for healthcare if I were to stay here.

Was up early one cold, rainy Sunday morning getting myself tuned in listening to Breathe Reprise off Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon. Something about the lyrics hit home especially the one line...

Home, home again.
I like to be here when I can.
When I come home cold and tired
"It's good to warm my bones beside the fire."
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.
