Lived in Japan on and off for 10 years in the military.
All the local workers always called me ‘DanielSon!’ll
They would tease me from the Karate kid movie.
That’d have to be Okinawa. My wife is Okinawan. I was there from 95 to 99. I go back ever couple years. When I retire I am moving there. We’ll have property and a large house paid for and socialized medicine do I won’t go broke for healthcare if I were to stay here.
Okinawa most of the 10. Did a tour in Yokohama too.
Want to go back one day as well.

Okinawa was actually my last duty station when I separated.
Was postmaster at the navy post office on kadena.
Prior tour was postmaster camp Lester naval hospital there.
That was coming off that horrendous security detail.

Fun times. I was stationed in Yokosuka from 91-95, went to Okinawa a ton of times, beautiful beaches and water. My wife is from Machida in Tokyo and when the kids were small we’d visit once a year. I was an Electronics Technician, ET2 aboard the USS Neverdock.

Camp Courtney for me the entire 4 years.

I can play guitar like...really fast...with an almost demonic intensity if you will.

Back in the 90's I was about the fastest guitarplayer in my local circle. As the years passed, I gave up some velocity and gained some tone and character.
Oh, and I happen to like fast cars, music and rollercoasters too. :)

The first band I was in that wrote original material. Founded in 85. When Pantera was Glamtera. Demos recorded at Pantego Sound with Vince Abbott behind the board and both Darrell and Vince bagging on us the whole time saying "That heavy thrash shit will never sell." Walter was such a badass rhythm guitar player I soon quit playing bass and switched to guitar. Walt is still my biggest influence to this day.

Did you play in Devastation? I loved that band, and to this day “Idolatry” is still one of my favorite thrash albums. It’s a masterpiece.

Beyond Black was a band I was in when I joined Rigtalk. We did a bunch of Sabbath, other covers, and heavied the tunes up quite a bit. I wanted to name the band “Nonemore Black.” :D

base 341 is my BASE number.
After completing parachute/freefall jumps from all of the four types of fixed objects, Building, Antennae, Span (bridge), and Earth, you are awarded your number.
I was at the time the 341st person to do this back in December of 1992 with the fourth object being the Hawaii Prince hotel in Honolulu.
At the time the numbers were issued by Jean Boenish, the widow of the late Carl Boenish who is considered to be the Pioneer of the sport.

Holy crap!! I was stationed in Hawaii from 91' to 93' so you jumped while I was there. :)

Mine is a play on my last name and Obi Won Kenobi.

I changed it up a little to be different, but maybe it would look better as Neubi Won Kaneubi?
Probably too late now as I've been using this version for years.

Where were you stationed?
I ended up moving there and living in Haleiwa from "94-2000. I worked for Skydive Hawaii out at Dillingham airfield as a Tandem master and Parachute rigger.

I lived on Hickam but worked over on Makalapa, the base across from Pearl Harbor. I was stationed in Hawaii from 93-96, 2000-2003, and 2007-2010. My retirement was on the Battleship Missouri. I was friends with Carlos and Zach (Zachman here on forum) from Hot Licks Guitars and knew the dudes at Island Guitars, Dan's, etc. I used to hit all of the guitar shops. :)

Ha, Small world.. Dan opened his shop while I was living there, I bought a Jackson Kelly Korina from him.. Super cool dude!!

I joined the JCF forum when I acquired a Charvel Fusion that was pretty fucked up. The Fusion was an oddball guitar so I was looking for some info on it and I just figure broken fusion was an appropriate name. It's pretty dumb and would like to change it but whatever.

They were from Corpus Christi back then. Just as young as we were. Idolatry was a fantastic album!

Remember Rigor Mortis? I went to junior high And high school with Casey and Harden. They formed just after the first two Pantera albums. Mike Scassia played with this crazy picking style. They always wanted to kick the boys in Panteras asses...like seriously threatening to beat them up! Fucking hilarious! Check out the "Welcome to your funeral" documentary . It's voiced over by Phil Anselmo.

That was the first place I played a Fryette Deliverance amp. :) Dan put a Duncan Distortion into my SG back when I was gigging. I agree, super cool guy!

Mine came from a username I use in another forum. I'm an old traditional hot rod guy. It refers to the early Ford/Mercury flathead engine. I owned a '29 Ford Roadster with a 239 flathead engine in it. Now sold.
