How do you set the master vol & ch. vol on your Diezels.

Seems like it gets tighter when the Master volume is high and you adjust the channel volume to suit.

For instance I set the Master volume to about 2:00 and the channel volume to 11:00 and it is very tight, but not as smooth. When I set the Master volume to 9:30-10:00 and the channel volume to 1:00 it's not as tight but smoother and a bit more musical.

I'd be curious to know how you guys set your Diezels. Mine is an Einstein by the way.

Channel at 12 and master volume ALL THE WAY UP :rawk: :rawk: :rawk: :rawk:

No but seriously I keep my channel volume at around 12 and my master depends on where im playing and what time it is lol. I've messed with turning the channel down low and the master high and the other way around and I feel that the Herbert is best with the channel at 12 (or just alittle above or below if im getting any feedback or need alittle extra bite)

I prefer the channel volume at 12:00 and 1:00 myself. I will have to mess with the master at different levels.

That's kind of backwards unless you want to push power tubes more so and stay somewhat clear of preamp gain. I like both so typically between 9 and 11 o'clock on the MV I and/or II, and between 10 and 1 o'clock on the volume channels but "never less" on volume than the MV’s.

Crimson,

I typically run it the other way, I just tried it this way to see what it would sound like and see what others preferences are.

I set up my VH4's Ch#3 for my optimum tone as its probably my most regular channel, I've then tried to balance the other Ch Vols against that so as not to have excessive volume jumps. It's ch vol is set at about 1 o'clock-ish I think ?, but essentially CH 3 is the dictator and all others must follow behind.

Most commonly I sit MV at around 9 o'clock as it seems to get some nicer Power Tube thump starting to happen. MV at 10-10:30 feels a little better and tighter without going totally deaf in the room, but I don't wanna test the neighbours friendship too much for too long. 12 o'clock would be my limit I reckon.

I've been using the absolute minimum barely-on MV setting lately due to a new bub, and it still sounds bloody fantastic, although when he's out with mum for a walk... I get to crank it up again for 20 mins and let her really rip !

I too tend on lowering the channel volume and raise the MV as much as my environment allow me. Much tighter this way (hagen inside).

Most of the time a play Ch3. Channel Volume is around 10:30 and Master Volume around 12.Big sound and loud as hell.

Depends on the amp.

Einstein chan volume between 11 and noon on chan 1. Chan 2 a little higher. Master volume to suit the overall volume level.

Vh4. Channel 3 volume between 10 and noon. Master between 8 and 11. Other channels to match chan 3.

Hagen. Depends on situation primarily because the preamp volume in Hagen is quieter at (noon) than the other amps. High Volume the channel volumes are 3 o'clock and master 1-2 o'clock. Low Volume channels at 11 and masters at suitable volume.

These all sound similar to what I currently use with slight variations.

Yeah bro, your Einy may like different strokes so you know, let your ears take ownership of the guillotine.

Herbert definitely likes both, but for gigs I'm always setting up like I typed out above - it's F'N unreal!

Einstein 100w user. Usually noonish on the Ch. 1 vol. and MV 1 & 2 are set according to the venue I'm playing. Ch. 2's Vol is set a notch or so higher for solo boost. A year or so ago I changed ch. 1 gain settings. I like the gain at like 2 o'clock or so. I use the clean mode alot, it brings the clean vol up to help match the other modes. I love what it does for the crunch/texas mode too. Try it out. It really makes the clean sparkly and gives the texas mode that nasty marshally grind. Sends the mega mode into meltdown

Makes sense Crimson. I definitely push the MV when live, but the often have the channel volume is less than Master...need to try your way. Will report after rehearsal tomorrow.

Should sound smoother without that upper mid grit while still being Diezel
Tight.

Reza, as for the volume on the Hagen
please send me an email.

Thanks,
Peter

Sounded great tonight. I raised the Channel Volumes to around 12 o'clock, maybe a wee bit higher and then had the Master to adjust volume levels...around 9-10 o'clock. Plenty loud, LOVE Herbert!!
