How is the MOD50 112 combo?

I am new here and I am seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these bad boys! The description is perfect for my needs! Half power switch, 112, TWO effects loops, 2 channels per module............ who could ask for anything more???!!!

I would probably get a BMAN module for starters. The tones on the indoorstorm website just kill me!!! The perfect full sounding clean and bluesy dirt tones! I would use this for some sweet cleans and SRV type tones.

I am not so sure about module #2. I am thinking the EG5, since it's been compared to an SLO. I would be looking for some AC/DC to VH & 80's metal type tones to AIC & Metallica. Something that is versatile enough to pull these off. Not dead on, but close enough. Does the EG5 have an A and B channel as well? Is this module all high gain, or can one get a medium gain/crunch tone from this?

Also, what is the cost and wait time?

Any direction towards other clips would be great as well!

Help me become an Eghead!!!!

Also, I had trouble finding any warranty info on the Egnater website. What is the warranty?

I have not played EG5, but I think if you want also AC/DC tones, you could probably like SL2. EG5 may have too much gain for that type of sound. Probably some wiser could give more input on the issue.

For what you described, I'd highly recommend the BMAN / EG5 combo. The BMAN channel A will do all your clean channel duties. Nice, warm, lush clean tone. BMAN ChB has enough gain on tap to do lower gain AC/DC "Plexi-ish" types of vibes. I know a lot of people on here use ChB as their "crunch channel" for old Plexi type tones. The EG5 will easily do your VH / AIC / Metallica type stuff. I use it for my "heavy rhythm sounds" like the ones you mentioned.

I have the Mod50 1x12 combo, and I really really like it. Couple comments though. The CL80 that comes with it is a great speaker, but I'd recommend something like a G12K100 or a Weber Blue Dog pre-rola 50-watt ceramic speaker. That'll give you a bit more versatility in tones you get from the amp. Mojotone makes all of Egnater cabs, and I also had them make me a back for the 1x12 combo to make it more like a closed back. It comes as 2/3 closed with an opening in the middle of the speaker. What's nice with that, is that you can have the best of both worlds. It comes in really handy to be able have both a closed back and open back with the same setup.

Nice! Thanks for the advice. I meant to put the AC/DC tones in with the BMAN module, since the JTM45 was mostly designed off of the Bassman.

Does the EG5 have an "A" channel and a "B" channel? DId you get the closed back extension separate from your MOD50 order?

Thanks again!!!

Yep it was. The ChB of the BMAN is killer for that JTM45 stuff! All recent Eggie modules are dual channel. The EG5 has 2 channels too.

I got the closed back directly from Mojotone. I custom ordered it from them, telling them dimensions of the back I wanted. I did not get it from Jeff / Bruce directly. I ordered it directly from the guys at Mojo.

BMan and EG5 is a winning combintation for sure. It has been my live rig for about a year. It will do what you want.

thanks everybody for your help! Sounds like this is the way for me to go!
