How many of you are truly happy with your current tone?

I normally gravitate towards single channel Marshall or Marshall type amps. If I've gone with channel switchers, I always picked one channel and stayed with it and used pedals while playing live. I've tried bunches of different amps and they all sounded good. Maybe I just get bored easily. Idk.
Yep, sounds like boredom. That's why it's good to keep a few different amps around. You get tired of one you can always jump on another. Either that or grap a Kemper.

It's taken a long time but yup....finally very happy with what I have amp wise. I just should have gotten it in the first place years ago and saved me some pain.

I fucking love my tone...EVH into 2x12 loaded with creamback and a G85. Also run wet/dry with the wet going into 2 1x12 cabs with a creamback and an 85 as well. Sounds awesome.....over xmas I score a peavey valveking that I have now set up to run stereo with the EVH  oh my god it sounds MASSIVE

The problem with tone chasing is people think they know what they are after but they actually don't..the key for me was getting my hands to make the noises I want and then the amp just feel into place

Love the Soldano tone , either the SLO or HR100+ does it for me .
Since the first time i played one in the mid 90's and found MY tone i have'nt really looked at others since , the only other amp i really like is the Marshall NMV SLP .
As for speakers in my 4X12's i'm close but still searching , for lower volume gigs i like Greenbacks but for real volumes i like the EVM12L's but dam the weight of those are crazy in a 4X12 cabinet .
So i'm still looking for an in between speaker , ones that are good for low volume gigs like Greenbacks but also won't compress out and remain tight at real volumes like a EVM12L .
It's probably not possible , but i can wish though .

modded EVH50W paired with my Splawn QR B+.. covers everything I want

I am truly happy with my current tone. That said, my tone is always evolving, it's a moving target. ;)

I was today

Tomorrow?.........................we'll see. ;)

How can I not be. Running Diezel Herbert + Engl Savage together with a Lehle splitter :)

I have found that it takes several amps to keep me happy. I will play one for a few months and then when I start getting bored I will switch it out for a different one to keep it fun. Right now I have a Ceriatone Yeti, Mesa Boogie Roadster, Peavey 5150 and Fender Bandmaster.

True

I'm pretty close to perfect with my Grind>OR100 & Kruse modded DMoll.
I still get amp curious about lots of stuff I ever played: KSR, Lickliter, Baron, EVH Stealth, etc
As well as think about amps I sold off lol Rhodes Recto, Peavey Ultra+, Fortin Marshall, Cobra...

i get the feeling quite a few people on these boards kind of try to push the gear flipping/collecting mentallity to sell things..... i mean playing guitar is just not that complicated. rock and roll is just not that complicated. you find a decent tone or two - and you play. ...i dunno...i mean i have a JVM and it has at least 3 or 4 decent tones in it (lol) so maybe i'm just used to that? lol

No, you're right. I pretty much sound the same through anything.
Good guitar, good amp, right amount of gain for the music. Some delay, if required, and a tuner. Done.

yes, 100% satisfied. I have Bogner 101B, VHT 50 CL, JCM800 2203, Splawn QR and a Mesa/Boogie DC-5. I have been 100% satisfied even from way back in "the day" when I only has one 2203 and 4x12.

I think people spend way too much time trying to nail tones of their influences instead of seeking their own tone voices. If they put half as much time in practice as they do seeking tone they'd be far better off. What do I care if you can nail VHI tone yet can't play any of the material correctly? I'd rather listen to someone who has the performance down 100% and but the tone isn't quit VH1 vs exact tone and crappy job covering the material.

At playing, yes. At getting target tone(s), not really.

Like how Eddie didn't play the Kinks tune "correctly", and chose different tone, for his own purpose?

I'd point out that the 2 aren't mutually exclusive (I've seen some very proficient players w/ lame tone... just saying), as engineering is a separate art from proficiency on one's instrument-- so it is beneficial to the player, to know how to use the tools of the trade to achieve a goal, or to achieve a variety of tones to suite the parts one plays.

In my playing out days i was happy with my Splawn QR. Bought an EVH 2x12 combo about 2 years ago for smaller jams. Haven't jammed with anyone in a while and a few months ago a friend of mine hooked me up with an AxeFxII. Haven't turned the tubes on since then.

Meat & Potatoes are GREAT, but sometimes one may prefer something more inspiring re: their tone(s). Just saying, some players are more diverse than others (Play other than Rock-N-Roll), and their tonal preferences for those occasions vary-- sometimes by a LOT, and so they tend to have an inclusive approach rather than an 'instead of' approach as it goes to their gear selection and preferences.

All this gear chasing for me is a fun but expensive hobby. In my younger years I gigged 2-3 weekends a month and full time in the early 90s for a while back when agencies could book you 6-7 nights a week. I used an ADA and a power amp, crappy 4x12 with crappy G12L celestions. Would fart out with any volume. That was my rig for years, got a decent tone out of it. But I wasn't really a tone chaser. Had the same 3 guitars for 15 years. Had a few Marshalls but used the rack to gig, more versatile. Now, I'm hooked on great sounding rigs....and I gig like 6 times a year...lol.
