How to wire a rack W/D/W ?

Hi there,
I'm kind of lost with a tons of questions.

I have a Bogner XTC wich will be set up for DRY. Mono effects are between th guitars and the bogner, so chorus, univibe will be on the bogner, wich is powering a 4x12 marshall center cab.

Then i take the Line out from the bogner and i go into effets. BUT as the effects are KILLDRY, when bypassed, no sound. SO i have to split the line out 4 times: PCM 70, Gmajor, Loopers for pedals, TC DELAY. How do i split the signal? Simply soldering 4 jacks in parrallel on the line out? No lost?

Wich pedal Looper can i take to wire my 12 pedals simulateously?
And finally, All units in the rack are midi capable, but wich midi controller will be able to control all these units (with a 12/16 loops looper) and with an LCD screen (must be capable to name a preset !)?

And how do i connect all these midi outputs to the controller?

Then i got my 4 Wet outputs ich goes into a line mixer- poweramp - 2x12 L and 2x12R

thank you very much for answering my question, i'm pretty new in rack rigs.

I expect the line out from the Bogner to have low enough impedance that you can just split it passively like you said, without any tone loss. If you do end up with tone loss, get a Rane SM26.

As for the loops, the only product I know of with twelve loops is the Mark L switcher. Two questions, though...
- Are these pedals mono in and mono out? That wouldn´t make sense in a WDW rig, and if they are mono in and stereo out you are looking at a custom unit to handle that many pedals... twelve sends, 24 returns. There are no stock units that can handle that many stereo pedals.
- Can the pedals handle the line level signal that the PCM and G-Major need? Many (if not most) pedals want instrument level signal, which is too weak for proper rack units. Mixing rack and pedals is a bit of a headache, but can be done with for example the Rane SM26 I mentioned above.

You´ll only have four units running on MIDI, so you should be fine just daisy-chaining them with the Thru jacks. If you end up with erratic behavior, get a MIDI Solutions splitter.

As for the MIDI pedal, you need to look at something that can send at least 15 CC commands if you want direct access to everything and not switch them on and off only as part of a preset. Something like a expanded Custom Audio RS-10, maybe... in any case you´re looking at one of the bigger pedals out there.

Thank you for answering.

For the loopers, i was thinking about 2 custom audio electronics 4x4. Shoul be fine with the 1in2outs pedals. The other pedals are mono, but i want them all in my rig and cotrolled by midi footswitch. In fact, i just awant a pedalboard with a midi controllet, vol pedal, wah, and tuner.
I will try splitting the signal passively, otherwise, a line splitter. I have found an Alesis Multimix 8 Line (8 line stereo mixer), should be fine. the pedals i have are intruments level in front of the amp and line level in the loop.

For the controller, CAE are uquite expensive, maybe is there something a bit cheaper? Finally, do you know a Rack mounted Delay, Stereo, wich have Panning delay and circular delay, other than lexicons?

Thank you !

I can´t think of anything that can do all those CC messages independently and is cheaper than an expanded RS10, to be honest.

Well, most units with dual delays (which are most of them) can do the classic Lexicon pan delay preset, as it´s just one delay far left and one delay far right. The circular is a multitap delay, which a lot of units have, but it´s also diffused which is very rare outside of the PCMs and the Eventides. On the cheap a Roland SDE330 or RSP550 can do both those types of delays reasonably well even if they sound like Rolands rather than like Lexicons.

I run a wet/dry/wet setup using a 5153 and finally end up using an Axe Fx for all the fx. The routing capabilities in the Axe come in real handy for this type setup.

yes i know the axe fx, but it's not really adapted for me as i have already 75% of my stuff (delays and reverbs, ect...) But you must have quite a sound ! I am personally looking for big reverbs and delays (circular and panning), like Steve Lukather.

Again the Axe can do all the Lukather delays etc. I'm in the middle of building my WDW rig & it's an expensive project so be prepared to commit some serious $$$$$

I've sold all my rack gear & pedals to fund the Axe - knowing this unit will also be future proof & gives you at least $50k of value in EFX. Seriously, unless you have a road crew carting all your gear it's gonna get hard work real quick! Check out the Axe

What happens if you just set the last pedal in the chain to killdry?

Then you will have no sound at all because in when pedal is OFF - she let not sound thru. T'at why i have to split my send as many times as i have effects.

Ive ran this rig wet/dry/wet and actually doubled up each wet dry/dry/wet cab for 6 total.I am going to do a multi-head rig soon,(Im more familiar w/ rack separates than amp heads) but I am gonna tackle a big multi-head/effects pedal rig at some point.Actually, ive started on it.If its one thing ive learned is its easy to make it all way more complicated than it needs to be.I know a few pros who run a w/d/w amp head rig with nothing more than a few 1in/3 out boxes ,like lehle, ect.and maybe a midi pedal switcher.Anyways, ive had tremendous success with switching everything thru my switchblade gl+.No tone loss, one rack space.done.
