I'm not a great bass player, but i've been thinking of recording some stuff so i saw a cheap short scale bass on craigslist.
It's a 1965 japanese made Teisco style. It plays pretty good, but the pickups aren't great. Tone knob doesn't seem to do much.
I need to go through it and see what's up. Might need a pickup swap, not even sure what would even fit but we'll see.

It's ugly for sure, well aware of that.
But like i said, i'm not really a bass player so it's good enough for my dumb ass lol

that's different! HNBD & Enjoy!

back in the day I played guitar or bass; FYI, for good basses for low cost, Ibanez is worth a look. you can get a new Ibanez short scale 4-string bass for around $200 IIRC, and they have standard pickups that are easy to replace.

Around $500 gets a new bass you could gig with (SR300EDX)...just checked, 4-string is $480

SR300E is $380:

This bass was also sold under the brand names Harmony and Silvertone. They aren't bad basses. And they look cool. Neck binding, 2 piece pickguards. This one seems to be in decent condition and if the pickups work that's more than a lot of them can say.

My cousin is the real bass player, he has like 4 or 5 Ibanez basses and a B.C. Rico.
Ibanez makes solid basses for sure.

Well they do work, not sure if i love the sound though. Once i get a proper bass amp i bet it will sound OK.
I'm not expecting much out of it.
