I didn't know Dime disconnected the tone pot in his guitars...............

I actually took out my volume knob too and just put a resistor to ground to emulate the load

Charvel did the same since the 70's.

This is what I do on all my superstrats - i never use the tone knob on a bridge HB anyways. Saves time and effort
I’ll probably try it this weekend

Upgrading to a 500k on the volume helped but not as much as I was expecting probably due to the 250k tone

Yes its 100% an issue for lots of ppl. I personally think it works a lot better to just run the HB as a straight shot - it has more presence that way, and seems to match better with the single coils in tone (if not output) IMO

Tone pots are just a nuisance if you are playing rock.

if it's accidentally on 9, not knowing you fiddle with amp settings.

I should have just done it from the beginning. But I was worried a 500k tone pot or tone bypass would make the Satch neck and middle too bright. Now I think it would get them where they need to be along with the bridge HB…which is the stock Jackson fusion HB

I’m not sure when I started bypassing the Tone knob, maybe 10 or 15 years ago. I did it by mistake and loved the full open sound with the extra highs. So started doing it to many guitars since. I still keep Tone knob’s in some guitars, just depends on how dark it is.

My wiring

Funny this thread resurfaced, I'm literally in the middle of re-wiring an MIJ strat with a push pull tone pot to take it out of the circuit.

If that works for you, that is awesome. I have pretty much that same wiring, with a 470k from hot to ground to basically have a "volume pot" in circuit.
I was joking, but it does sound pretty cool to do that. I built an Esquire once that had a 3 way switch, one normal, one to a mud setting and one straight to the jack bypassing everything. I think it's called a 'blower switch.'

Depends on the pickup....

I prefer the tone connected to something with alot of precense. It seems a little harsh in the highest frequencies without a tone connected.

I used to never run tone pots....

But with the Black Winter for example after years without tone pot. I connected one back to it. Yeah it stays on 10, BUT it does absolutely kill the tippy top shrillness the pickup could sometimes have even on 10, vs not having one at all.

I still have guitars without one, but Ive learned to appreciate what it does for some pickups. Especially alnico 8 pickups... sometimes I gotta roll that tone down 1-2 clicks to get rid of the razor blade presence. Its different than just turning down the amps itself and allows easier small changes between guitars without always changing the amps presence settings.

Next guitar will keep the tone pot 💯

Probably part of the reason his tone was shrill and ugly as fuck at the tippy top registers 😂

dimes tone, and really everything on Vulgar especially has a sheen on top of it that can only be accomplished by boosting 10k at the board or with outboard gear, every time i listen to that album now im like jesus this is bright.

Chugg deez nuts.

I know paragraphs or anything with more than 3-5 words is hard for your ass to comprehend. Which is why you have all those high doller amps but still cant play worth a flying fuck.

Friendly reminder that amps dont make talent 🤡

No load with a .015 means stoner drone toanz bridge / cocked wah & clapton woman tone neck are available when needed.

This is the Way™
