I didn't know Dime disconnected the tone pot in his guitars...............

I have been checking out the Bill and Becky pickups. If I get the cash and right guitar, I want to give them a shot.

Bright like Nuno especially if you don't have a tone pot. I had run mine with a tone pot and 500K pot and it still had that cut. I can't imagine it in a guitar with no tone pot. It would sound exactly like Nuno sounds to me which is awesome for THAT tone. But not as much everything else.

I would bypass the BLUSA one for sure IMO, but some people love them. The BLUSA was way more harsh than this B&B L500XL is. While the BLUSA sounded great for Dime stuff it didn't work for much else IMHO.

I recommend that Euge video, it captures the differences quite well. Another pickup that is close to the L500XL is the SD Jupiter which alot of people seem to like for other genres of music besides Dime or Nuno.

The guitar I have the B&B L500XL in is specifically built for those Duno tones but I think it would work for other tones as well with some EQ shaping on the amp.

Definitely is pickup and guitar specific but I have several guitars that are just a single volume pot and a switch and all of them sound killer with that setup.

I did it through my own experimentation, like all of my gear discoveries.

I am not certain I've ever read about any of my guitar heroes tricks for tone whatsoever, which is a bit odd now that I think about it, especially seeing people obsess on forums.

I guess I never really wanted to specifically fully sound like another guitarist.

I heard a live clip of Dime that sounded awesome - but that was the extent of it for me.

I dislike any recorded tone I have heard from him to be honest.

Thanks for the details, helps me figure out what I may try.

I agree it still has that cut with it. I had the tone pot connected on my guitar and then I disconnected it out of curiosity. I was surprised the pickup seemed to get more clarity with just a bit of a bump in treble but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I can see why some like the tone pot shaving just a bit of highs off in some applications.

yeah its one of those not really "better", just different things.

I've traditionally rewired my guitars so I have two volumes rather than a volume+tone and greatly prefer it that way, especially in my H/H super strats.

I only leave the tone in my one S/S/S strat because it does need some roll-off on the bridge at times.

I run bridge only + vol in my guitars. Didn't get the idea from anyone and don't care but always seemed cleaner and less soldering 👍
