Transparency here, for the boutique builder not mass producing, you’re looking at a minimum of $25-30 just for quality parts, not counting covers, packaging, waste, shop materials, or equipment. This also does not include time spent ordering, packaging, mailing, emails, or prototyping. This also doesn’t take into consideration that it’s impossible to get all of your parts from a single vendor. 4-5 at a minimum, so add the shipping from 4-5 vendors to the price of the parts. I think your looking at almost $40 before counting time and labor.
Now, when you make the pickup, I’d say the average time to wind, assemble, and pot is about 2 hours per pickup unless your mass producing and don’t have to change your setup between different models/orders. Again, add the communications on the front end the communication on the back end, and the mailing, packing and mailing. I was actually covering the shipping costs. I promise you that I couldn’t feed my family is my only job was pickups. I would say that a boutique builder would even struggle @$120 per pickup is that’s their only source of income. I see no o problem with some winders charging $200 per pickup of it’s not CNC wound.
