I was actually impressed since I was really not liking the clips that I had heard(I'm more into the Satan). Most of what I had heard up until that point sounded way to mid focused, which was there when I plugged in. But using the shift switch and tweaking the mid knob, it seemed like I was able to get rid of it. I Think I was able to get it to sound pretty close to my Ultra Lead. I use a Furman Para EQ in front of the VHT though, no need with the Thrasher. I thought it sounded great

I was in a store(Capital Guitars, St Paul, MN) but I was still able to blast it for a bit. I was playing through what I believe was the matching 2x12

Just thought I'd share how it was

So is it close to a VHT Pitbull? Is it worth it if you already have a Pitbull?

I wasn't comparing them side by side so I can't really say. The main thing that is drawing me to the thrasher/satan, is the fact that I could get rid of the PEQ I use with the VHT and just go straight in. I could save rack space and have a less cluttered signal path. I don't know, once the Satan arrives, I'm taking my Pittbull to the store and comparing all three, then I will determine whether or not I will be buying one

I'd forget the China made Randalls and stick with your boutique built Ultra Lead. The UL will probably be still working long after the Randalls.

I completely understand your point and I take that into consideration. But a lot will still be determined by how they sound

PS, I should probably stop there, as the China thing has been discussed, lol

I was really thrown by the demos I have heard so far. I think the price is a wee bit high. If they were priced the same as the 5150 I think there would be more of an open mindedness towards them.

I'm holding out to demo the Randall 667 before the jury comes in on the Fortin Randalls.

THIS.

Sounds beastly however, I am DYING and saving to get a Rhodes Orthos.

Same price range as the 667 but from what I heard the Orthos Crushes and I don't need a 105 channel amp lol.

Sorry to steer the thread but the 667 sounded great.

How does it compare to the Peavey 5150 series?

If you're only to the 5150/5150II. The tone shaping options of the Thrasher are much better than the Peavey right out of the box, you would be able to achieve the same kind of control with an EQ/boost(filters) in front and an EQ(shift switch) in the loop though. Beyond that, I would say that the 5150 is a little fizzier on the top end and that the Thrasher is more articulate.

I wasn't A/Bing them so take my words with a grain of salt

Can you point me in the direction of some good clips? All I can find are crappy, unmiked namm clips

Those are the same clips I heard for both 667 and Orthos.

I guess I've become accustomed to low quality recordings and feel I can gauge them fairly lol

The Thrasher I played was badass. Lots of killer metal tones packed into that amp.

Always impressed, every time I hear someone playing through a Randall live.
