Walked my seriously unmanly 7 pound chihuahua and across the fucking street some dude left his pit in the fron yard where it had a fucking 1 foot fence. Fucking pit flew across the fucking street and went to town on the on my pint sized chihuahua, 3 broken ribs, puncture wounds that need to cleaned and sown back ip, bruised lung, air under the skin. Just fucking great. So far I left a grand at the emergency vet. Just grand...

I'm sorry to hear that man. I have a 7 lb Yorkie. I would persue legal action against them if at all possible.

I'm waiting until tomorrow to see how mine is doing after surgery. Thing is I don't fault the pit for flying across the 1 foot fence, I fault the owner for leaving the pit in an unsecured yard like this.

Sorry to hear that Ed. They're liable aren't they?

I know it's a little late, but you might want to carry a baseball bat with you when you walk your dogs from now on. :aww:

Damn, sorry to hear this. Take the owner of the pit bull to small claims, get your money back and then some? Not sure if this would work? Can you find out the owner?

Hope your dog is ok. As a very young child, my first dog was a chihuahua.

I know who the owner is, his dad owns the gas station I buy my gas at. I'm gonna give him the option to be a stand up guy, we'll see whether he takes it.

yup

irresponsible dog owners are a major pet peave of mine. I have a mid sized dog, and even then there are plenty of dogs that get loose on a regular basis, and sometimes find us when I am walking my dog, have had to break up several fights. my dog is a little bigger, but still its scary stuff. Bigger dogs seem to love to go after smaller dogs for some reason. I now walk with a stick everytime I walk, shame it has to come to that.

I hope it will work out for you. Best to handle things outside of court, and hopefully he will be a standup guy and take care of your expenses. I know if my dog hurt another, I would.

I fear for my miniature dachshund's life whenever I'm walking him, there is this HUGE dog across the street that looks at him like roast beef....I have a special harness (not just a collar) so that I can yank him up and run if need be.

Sorry to hear about this, Ed. I wish the best for your dog. Hopefully he/she will be okay.

On another note, thank God that dog didn't attack you too! I'm sorry, but I'd never own any dog like that. Screw that. That's probably the last thing I'd ever want. I'm wondering if the guy has insurance or something that would cover your costs and maybe more?
Actually in the process of getting the pit off her my left hand got a good beating...but nothing that i can't walk off.

Wow dude, that's crazy. I've never experienced anything like that and hope I don't anytime soon. Do you think you're dog will be okay?
Likely, but I won't know for sure for another 2 hours.

Just for a visual how small she is...

Ed, sorry to hear it. Hope your dog gets through this with a minimum of suffering... I will never understand anyone who has an animal and lets it run wild. Even if doesn't attack any other animals or people, they can be hit by cars, tangle with a wild animal (rabid or not), get poisoned, etc.

I hope this person will own up and take care of his responsibilities, but from how they started this, I wouldn't hold my breath. If they give you any shit, I'd haul ass to small claims court and see how far you can hang him out to dry. I'd file a police report too.

Man, that sucks - mojo sent for a speedy recovery, hopefully without breaking the bank. And hopefully the neighbor will man up at least enough to cover your vet bills.

Irresponsible is the key word here.
Pets are lot like Children .... they are a responsibility.
I well pray for the best for your friend.

Cool dog. Can't believe she survived. Hope it all works out for you.

I had something similar happen to me a while ago. Walking my dog (1/2 lab, 1/2 rottweiler) and an unchained collie came out of a garage after my dog. I kept yelling at the guy in the driveway to get his fucking dog. He just kept telling me his dog was friendly. Well mines not! Mines on a leash and his dog just keeps coming. Long and short my dog lunged, I was on my knees holding him, I tackled him as he lunged. My left hand ended up in my dogs mouth. Several stitches and torn tendons later I was the only casualty. Played that weekend, ripped all the stitches out on my strings. Lost a lot of speed in my playing.

My dog will play with cats, rabbits, kids, anything but other dogs. At the park Sat. and an unleashed chow runs up under my dog and ends up in his mouth. Dog was fine, but I could have killed the dude that just let him run wild. We have leash laws here. I keep a constant look out for people with other dogs and steer far from them, but I can't control other people letting theirs run wild. My dog was a stray we took in, and we have tried to acclimate him to other dogs, but it just isn't working. But I shouldn't have to sit at home because other people won't be responsible and obey the law.

I know I'm kind of on the opposite end of what happened to you. My dog is aggressive with other dogs. But I was showing your point of other people not being responsible. Guy will be lucky if they don't come and take his dog and put it down. Good luck, glad the pit didn't come after you.

Sorry Ed. Sometime people suck! Pit Bulls are outlawed here. Some of the folks that owned them should have been outlawed too.
Best of luck to your little dog, poor thing must have been terrified.

which is a completely insane law. we had to get rid of our aussie shepherd when we had our baby. in any case, i've talked and worked with alot of trainers, ANY dog can bite. I know a teacup terrier that grabbed onto a babies face.

ed, i'm sending good vibes to the dog, and good vibes to you. its tough for people to not blame the dog, but blame the owner when stuff like this happens.. so hats off to you.

people need to remember, a dog will only do what the owners let them do.
