It's nothing but trolls who never post in other forums on the site. There are only here to troll, pick fights and add zero value to a guitar gear forum.
I see no reason to give them any voice. New Trolls seemingly pop up every day. Shut it down.

The beauty of the site is, unlike TGP and TDPRI, the mods don't heavily censor people even when they have distasteful opinions. I for one am glad you decided to spend more time here. I would just avoid the OT. Or, if you want a sanitized version just place people you don't want to hear on ignore. Don't engage the shitslingers with shitslinging and most of them will take a more reasonable tone. But yeah, there are a couple guys who aren't interested in debate, mainly because they aren't able to verbalize a cogent thought. Just know that you are a valued member here.

100% incorrect.

In fact, I think you'll find that practically everyone over there posts in the main sub-forum too. Off-hand, I can't even think of anyone who doesn't.

So yeah, 180º out-of-phase on that one.

There are only here to troll, pick fights and add zero value to a guitar gear forum.
OTC has a "subheading" that's visible to all at the root level:
Abandon hope all ye who enter here...

So there's that I guess. Free speech isn't all rainbows and unicorns I'm afraid, hence the warning.

I see no reason to give them any voice.
Amongst the myriad of reasons is the precise antithesis of what you're saying here.

I see "every" reason and more-importantly, I see no reason to take their voices away. Plenty of bodies the world over already doing that.

Bottom line / TLDR version:
We've placed OTC and its sub-forums "out-of-the-way", below the "mainstream" ones.
We've placed a highly-visible warning for the easily-offended at the root of the section.
Almost all the argy-bargy takes place in the "General" sub-forum, but there's a good selection of topic-specific areas where there're good conversations to be had - cooking, pets, cars, bikes, hobbies, sport etc.

Lastly, just my humble perspective:
Forums are dying. You don't survive by beating peeps over-the-head and / or making a place less-fun to hang out, at least, not in the long term.

There's a principled angle to it as well, which is FoS. Unless enough organisations have the courage to allow it, we're all doomed.

Thank you for the feedback mate. We may not agree, but then there's beauty in that. :dunno:

Thread moved to the Rig-Talk Feedback sub-forum.

Blazing saddles is not even aware that there is another section.

But monkeyman is right. We tried no OT, and the main forum became hard to be in. Every single thread got derailed by politics or old grudges.

I’ll get triggered occasionally by a topic and respond freely on the OT. It’s usually constitutional stuff that keeps the world together, at least in my mind. Sometimes a thoughtful response, no matter how stupid the topic, is good for my psyche. Then again, I’m already triggered, so maybe not. People, in general, don’t change regardless of truth or tales so why bother trying to teach them. Again, I guess for me it’s just mental masturbation.

Just don’t go in there. Simple.

This place has an off topic section!?
Just walked in that door for the 1st time a few days back.

It has nothing now vs what was going on four or five years ago...it was so bad I actually didn't join at the time. Now the worst part about going down there is realizing water isn't curved anymore.
I could only imagine the amount of runaway trains there must have been.. I’ve seen the mods become switch operators from time to time but never followed the tracks to see where those threads wound up. Found out recently! lol I initially wound up here while looking for gear info regarding power conditioners.. Joined when I needed help with one of my amps, but became friends with some really cool cats. Some of which closed the musical chapter in their life & migrated into other hobbies. They’re still on here in other sections which I haven’t got a ticket to visit yet lol. My point being a “Rig” has many diverse meanings, it doesn’t just relate to music gear. What’s more “Rig” worthy than politics.. People from all walks of life & interests come together here. It’s a beautiful thing imo & we have to take the good with the bad. Good will always prevail so why worry.

On a side note… If you start talkin that nonsense ima have to show you how “flat” the bottom of my cast iron skillet is… 🍳 I’ll make you breakfast after you regain consciousness… I’m not a total degenerate..😂 Water is “V” shaped.. Still trying to figure out if it’s “Wet” 🤔

Look player I get it. It's one of those things. But at the end of the day, Off Topic is going to remain, and getting rid of it is gonna be a no from me, dawg.

When peeps read my first response, they might well wonder, "But I'm sure I've seen members pop up there out-of-the-blue, troll with the best of 'em and not seem to make any appearances in the main sub-forum."

What many might be missing is the fact that they're alt accounts, the owners of which have been posting in the main area usually for years.

Even in the example provided above, TBS was bant but the original owner, Picasso, posts in the main forum as well.

This is why I said I'm hard-pressed to think of anyone who's never posted in the main sub-forum. You gots ta consider alt accounts, usually created for a laugh.

But monkeyman is right. We tried no OT, and the main forum became hard to be in. Every single thread got derailed by politics or old grudges.
Somewhere to let off steam. :dunno:

I forgot to reply to this aspect of the OP - the upper-case lettering of "guitar" - given the number of "corrections" I had to make.

I addressed the "need", the "business sense" and whatnot, but failed to point out:
It's actually normal for guitar, keyboard, drum, production and all manner of music-related forums to have an OT area. To not have one would make you by far the exception, not the norm.

So yeah, there's that too. :dunno:

The irony here is in India (where my moms from) your name suggest you’re the rude one @alund. Translates to “a dick” :aww: It’s why I’ve always been hesitant to trigger you myself. Obviously @Techdeth chooses violence.
