I love standard tuning. Anybody else?

I personally don't dig drop D at all, everything feels so ass backwards, I do like D standard and C# on my electrics though, I go back and forth between standard and Eb on my acoustic. I don't like going too low, I use c# for stoner rock type stuff, I find that tuning to be magic on the right song but otherwise I need to be higher.
 
Standard tuning is my favorite, other than a flat tuning to make it easier for a singer I never leave it.
 
I've got one guitar in standard tuning - one in drop D - and one in drop C. That gives me a bunch of different flavors which is nice. I'm trying one out in drop tuning one half step down, so like drop C# I guess. It's kind of a compromise in that it's still tight and crisp but it's got a little extra low end umph!!
 
I like standard. I'd rather play a 7 than something drop tuned. Nothing really against drop tunings other than I don't personally like playing in them. D, C standard etc sound fine, but I prefer the range of a 7.
 
I have always had at least one guitar that's in standard. Most of the time I play in C# with my band, but I tend to play at home in standard.
 
My favorite is easily standard tuning it just has more guitar tone than other tunings when using heavy gain, Eb is pretty fucking cool too.
 
I tune to E and Eb. I keep more than half of my guitars tuned to E the other half to Eb....I never go any lower or do any de-tuned lower tunings other than the ocasional dropped D. If I want to get that low I'd just buy a fuggub a six string bass :lol: :LOL:
 
I have been all over the place on tunings over the years, btu always end up back at standard. It just feels and sounds right to me...yes, even for the heavy stuff ;)

I occasionally use Drop D for some things, btu tend to stick around standard most.


HOWEVER... when in a band situation, my tuning really depends on the range of the singer. Most of the bands i was in used either D or Eb.
 
I pretty much keep in standard tuning sometimes if I am monkeying around with a slide I'll use an open tuning.
 
i used to use standard and drop d regularly, probably standard sligtly more, but now i got a guitar with a floyd rose on it, can't do it so much anymore, or cant be arsed.
 
I haven't played in standard in forever, but I have no beef with it. Typically I'm in drop C (my favorite) and D. Although Eb just has this pissed off sound that I don't think the others have that I like too.

Me too. Usually because the singer doesn't have the range for me to play in standard tuning and I'm too lazy to transpose all the chords.
 
I've been tuning a whole step flat for years. And a half step before that... for years.

But I agree that my guitars seem to 'come back to life' when I set them up for standard. Usually I do that when I sell one, and it makes me not want to sell it anymore! :D

Same here, We do it for the singer but if that wasnt the case, Id be in standard all of the time...
 
i like eb for rock and a whole step down for metal..

but the guitar feels and plays the best in e standard in my opinion
 
I enjoy standard tuning, I find there's a nice amount of balance. Depends on what's being played more than anything.
 
i keep 2 guitars in standard tuning, 1 guitar a whole step down, 1 guitar in AGCFAD tuning, 1 guitar in C standard, and then 1 guitar in Eb.

i love playing in different tunings instead of limiting myself to just one thing. Lets my creativity flow when i change to a different tuning and write something new.
i use .11s in standard and Eb, .12s whole step down and C, and for the AGCFAD i use .12s but for the A i cant remmeber at the moment, its something crazy and real thick. and ill put a guitar in the drop d or c like tuning when ever i feel like it.

but i always practice in standard for some reason. i like em all.

That is exactly what I want to do in the future. I definatly don't want to be limited to one or 2 tunings. Having a few guitas all tuned to something different opens up a whole new realm of possibilities.
