I need a Flying V with these specs:

Mahogany Body
Mahogany Neck
Ebony Fretboard
Lockable Floyd Rose
Faded Cherry Finish
Neck-Through
25.5+ Scale Length

The price doesn't matter if it's worth the quality. I'm going to be replacing the pickups, so those aren't important. The guitar will be tuned down to C# standard, so if that would be a problem for whatever reason, then it's not the guitar I need. I would be adjusting everything properly for the tuning, of course. I would like to get a thin neck, or at least be sure it's not too thick.

I'm head over heels for a Gibson Faded Cherry Flying V, if it only had a Floyd Rose.

I'm honestly considering just getting a customized Carvin (around 1700 dollars!), but I'm not incredibly fond of the body shape, and prefer the classic Gibson style. Any other decent custom companies I should look into?

maybe Edwards to get a V that's not pointy with a floyd.

I played one of those BC Richs the other day, and it doesn't feel good to me.

only v guitar id ever want is a dean v i like the head stocks

I'm looking for something with a less ridiculous shape. The ESP looks good, I'm not too fond of the body, but if I could find one to play it could change my mind. It's almost perfect otherwise on paper. I'll check out GMP. Thanks fellas, keep 'em coming!

He can make just about any shape you want.
you want a rounded V with a tradition headstock,I doubt that would be a problem since they are built from scratch.
Rico's come standard with ebony boards and he uses OFR's.

here is my 1982 Gibson Flying V with Floyd :D

You're talking about GMP? I've been browsing through the options, and it's quite expensive, but they can do just about anything I would want. I'm probably going to send in for a quote, and see if they could order and install some Bare Knuckle pickups.

Was this built with the trem, or added?

Does anybody know how much it would cost, or if it would even be practical to purchase a Gibson Flying V and get it routed for a Floyd Rose? It seems like it could be cheaper than ordering a custom, but I'm not sure if this is a guitar worth sinking so much money into.

That is Brent Gutierrez take on a flying V. He's a hell of a builder, nothing too fancy that isn't a request, killer finish work, reasonably priced considering it's mostly hand work. There's a builder forum for him.

If only it wasn't white. :(

Apparently Gibson still builds custom guitars through authorized dealers. Has anybody ever had something made? I imagine it would be very expensive.

I would just get a used faded and slap a floyd on it. I can't believe they are up to 950, I paid 500 for mine new.
