I need a Flying V with these specs:

  • Thread starter Thread starter Spaceboy
  • Start date Start date
Schecter makes one damn close to what you want.

the headstock would look like the ESP posted in thread, but the Schecter body is more like a Gibson.

I've looked around online and asked a couple of shops about installing a Floyd Rose into a fixed bridge, and can't find a price to get a rough idea of cost. I've never played a Schecter that's gelt comfortable. I'm used to playing Ibanez, so I'm rather picky about the comfort of the neck.

I've got an Epi goth V with a Floyd on it I will sell for cheap.

Here's pics.

Epiphone and set-neck, but I could be interested. I'll send you a PM.

I was doing some V shopping myself and two that aren't bad (but not ESP tits level) are the Dean V79 and Fernandes Vortex. Oh yeah, a Hamer Vector is bitchin too. Lots of nice V's out there.

But the black Ninja is tops for me right now.

You sent a PM but it was blank. But here's what I think you were asking

$300.00 plus shipping, no case, gig bag.

If I purchased a Gibson V, it would cost around 400-500 for installation and routing for a Floyd Rose. I'm going to get Bareknuckle humbuckers, which is another 300. I could be spending something towards 1000 dollars on mods and adjustments for a 700 dollar guitar. Would this even be worth the money and effort, although it could be a guitar I'm perfectly happy with? I could get Carvin or another custom, or even an overpriced Ran for not much more.

Where are you located and how patient are you? I know a guy in San Francisco who can make you whatever guitar you want with any headstock, bridge etc... He makes guitars for Phil Lesh and that other guy from the Dead. He is making me a korina SG right now in 25.5 scale and 24 frets.

You should shoot a mail to RAN guitars in Poland. The woodwork is amazing and they build it exactly like your specification. oh and you can get anything you want.

Check out their gallery.

Here's my 27" baritone Explorer. Love that one!

I'm actually just a bit south, in Santa Cruz for the summer, but in August I'll be back in Tennessee. I'll send you a PM for some more info.

I've been looking at Ran for awhile as another alternative, but never sent in a quote. I'll get that done and see how much a custom Invader would cost. I've heard too much about how expensive they are though.

Whoa, that ESP is tits.

Indeed. The black version without a Floyd looks even better too.

ninja_2_nt.jpg

Please see avatar....Mine is the LTD version though :( too poor for the real ESP :(. BUT I am saving my pennys and hopefully will have money for a custom version in the somewhat forseeable future. Definitely my favorite guitar evar!!

Got a V with those specs, (excluding Floyd Rose) but still figuring out what kind of pickups to put into it. WHat kind of BKs are you going to put in it?

With a avatar of Nile it should be brutal

RIght now got an EMG 85 in it. Still messing around with it though as it is new.

After talking to various custom shops, I've decided to get a Ran Invader (expensive ), and I'm just waiting for some money to put down the deposit. It's going to have Bare Knuckle pickups, C-Pig in the bridge, and Painkiller in the neck. I'm still considering Lundgren though. That Ninja V still looks incredible too, so it still could materialize itself in my hands soon.

That sounds awesome! Though if you want Lundgren shoulda went with Amfisound guitars, cuz they come stock with the guitar!
They have some badass V's too, but all in Alder. and they only cost a good 2750 Euros!

Build one with Warmoth. They sell the Gibby V shape and neck and you can get any body wood, controls, bridge, pickup config, etc. I built a Jackson King V through them and it was totally killer. The fact that it was a bolt on neck meant nothing as this guitar had great sustain. Got into some money issues so I had to sell it but I def regret it. Here's a pic of it and since then I bought a BC Rich Deluxe Jr V which is an awesome guitar but I'd love to build another Warmoth. If you painted the guitar yourself you could probably get all of the parts for around a grand and their stuff is top notch. The fret work on their necks is absolutely incredible. Pics of mine that I built...

, GMW guitar works is the way to go, hes building me one almost identical to yours and I own several of his guitars which are off the hook incredible. hes in Cali and his work is AMAZING!!!

Kage

I'm impressed with that Warmoth, and didn't even consider assembling something through them. I'm still going for the Ran Invader, but a Warmoth project guitar could be a good and educational option for late on, and sometime that sleek and plain would look great on the wall. :D

How much did the King V style body cost to get custom made?
