How is that for a mental Polaroid?
I went to Ikebe in shibuya just to try out that Naked amp (serial number #005). It is really nice. If I said it was a hot rodded Marshall it would do it no justice. One big thing that I noticed about it is the responsiveness of the presence. amazing how much control and variation it has on this amp. hands down the best presence I have heard on amp. especially when you get from about 4 to 5 oclock on the presence it dramatically changes the tone and adds a different color to the sound its like a different voicing of the amp at the top end of the presence. The same can also be said for the treble mid as well. Really impressive the range of tone you can get from fiddling with the treble and the presence. My explanation is lacking and I am sorry about that. Very tight amp as well with no flub at all. the gain is about all I would say is similar to a hot rodded marshall. it has plenty but I don't think I would put it in the herbert, ubershall, vh4 category at all. very low noise as well even with the gain cranked up.
it is really just a damn good amp.
ah the other thing that really impressed me was how well it cleaned up when rolling back the volume. Amazing how well it can go to an almost entirely clean sound by rolling back the volume about half with the gain at about 4:00 o'clock with the coils tapped you would think it was on the clean channel. (was playing a PRS 22 that the store had)
If I had to say what I didn't like about it, it would be that the clean and gain channels had a shared eq. got a good sound on the dirty channel and then switched to the clean channel and had to fiddle with the eq to get a good sound from the clean channel and back again
So why not buy it? Im already in the dog house for getting a second xtc and I am selling two guitars and another xtc to make up for it so there was no way in hell the wife was going to go for it. by the time I get the bogner sold im sure the naked will be gone.
