Would you blame Fender for moving manufacturing from CA to Arizona?

Some sort of a miracle this hasn't dissolved into an OTC-worthy shit-fest already.

Well-done guys. Mind you, my finger's on-the-button...
I'll give it a nudge.

Democrats suck.

Seriously though. It's California's fault California sucks. Hell, even Hollywood isn't in Hollywood anymore. They are making movies all over the world now because it is cheaper than paying to shoot in Californiastan. Really, California needs to lose a bunch to teach it a lesson, since it's current situation doesn't seem bad enough for them yet.

Many businesses have left CA and many more will leave. As for AZ, many starts in Hollywood have homes there to get out of the LA rat race.

Many forget Soldano got his start in LA and then moved to WA.

But yes, I can see many CA based music companies shift their assembly elsewhere. Synergy imports all their PCB, parts, chassis from China, and then does final assembly in CA.

This is why I predict BAD will leave LA eventually. Those jobs there are not exactly high paying either. I remember hearing Iconic Guitars was moving from Carsbad to Nashville, but haven't seen it actually happen yet.

Fender should consider somewhere in the Midwest where it's sometimes cheaper than Texas or Arizona. Arizona especially, is not cheap anymore in many places.
Midwest is cheap , sure, but who the fuck wants to live in the Midwest? Not many, other than the people that are from there and simply don't know any better. Cost of living is the only motivation and that is not enough for most. From purely a business perspective, maybe that makes sense for some businesses, but lifestyle matters to most people and the midwest is not where it's at, unless churches and stripmalls are your thing.

CA has an incredible advantage to manufacturing. You have the seaports, the climate, the workforce. It could be a larger economic force than the rest of the country combined. But sadly, here we are.

No. Mike is from Seattle and moved to L.A in the mid 80's to be in the thick of the scene of the times, then moved back home to Seattle.

Good move, access to the best of the best. The DSP skills Fender got when moving to Scottsdale was pretty incredible. Part of the same DSP cartel that had earlier created the modern audio DSP world. While it may not have been the greatest market success, the DSP in the Mustang series amps was light years ahead of most and still current. The skills in the guitar community in Maricopa County read like the who's who in the 90's and just grew from there. The remote nature for the mexican craftsmen there necessitated some serious self reliance and skills. These are the people who invented the backflip on the bike, right there at the Salt River, and of course the first freestyle BMX show ever at Barecover, Cornerstone Mall.

Good move Fender!

Yes, you are correct, please don't come to the midwest. It's all rednecks and churches.

TBH it wouldn't bother me at all.
hell i'm just warming up to MIMs. fine instruments esp the player series

In n Out burger owner is leaving CA for Tennessee.

"There’s a lot of great things about California, but raising a family is not easy here. Doing business is not easy here,”

As others have said, CA is beautiful, but it's no place for anyone with kids.

I think their chassis are made in the states.

Yep. You nailed it, @Jdub I'm from the midwest. That's why I live in California.

Been here over 40 years, and I'll let the Cali bashers in on something, a lot of folks leave Cali and then move back here. We hear plenty of horror stories about life "back east". People in glass houses...

Greetings from California!

As long as you can afford to, and want to put up with the communist gobernment.

It is beautiful.

Beautiful photos. For what it's worth, a lot of people move away and come back here too, in Ohio. I had three bandmates move to Florida a few years ago. They were all back here within two years.

There's something to be said for living somewhere that doesn't have hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires or much flooding. I'm not bashing Cali - I'd much rather spend a week there than Cleveland - but the Midwest is a lot better than people think.

That's why I moved to AZ 5years ago. CA is a business nightmare. They even tried to charge me stuff after I dissolved the CA corporation and restarted it in AZ. They just suck.
Yes, didn't they pass some sort of ridiculous law in an attempt to penalize people for leaving their beautiful state ?

I moved to Nebraska from CA about 3 years ago. Best decision ever, it was like a nightmare living in that state. CA is a shithole created and enabled by those that live there. I wanted to live in the Midwest and intentionally moved back. It's cheap, the inclement weather keeps the pussies away, not a lot of people, crime, and homelessness. Cost of living is far less. The stupid rules about what you can and can't do are minimal compared to CA. There's plenty to do here and it's beautiful.
