I get not everyone likes everything but I know if a guitar player says they don't care for the tone and songs on the early VH records, we could never play together. It would be like someone telling me Back in Black is "OK, I guess". Maybe their bench mark tone is Coldplay or the first tones they heard were the modern Brootz and it scarred their genes. I can agree that the VH1 tone is a little fuzzy at times but the tone on the next three is pretty much perfection and even the 1984 tone I love. Now I don't play a super strat and have always played Gibsons, AC/DC is my tone DNA, but early VH is in a true class above most others.
I was 12 when VHI came out. Didn't play gtr yet, but was pretty obsessed with it. VH's playing was never interesting to me. I don't listen to players for their tones. Their playing and songs have to interest me.....VH doesn't.

I love ACDC Back in Black...great album!

Blizzard of Oz...............no brainer that sucker would sound incredible if Randy had better modded marshalls.
Yep.

No. Honestly. To my ears, Tooth and Nail has a hollow / sterile sound. I think it's a shabby recording.
I am in agreement........great album though!

Hey......how about Van Halen 1.....I mean listen to that swill....or anything by Cantrell.....

I KID....I Kid!!!!!!
:D

Badlands first album

Jake E. Lee rocks....not so much his tone.....too dry I think

I'm almost on board with VH1. In fact several of the early VH records have a weird fuzz on them. I know....brown sound, but some of the recent clone amps might be doing that tone even better than the original.

On another note, I'm listening to Hall of the Mountain King right now, and there are a couple tunes I'd remix. Strange Wings is almost too wet, but other songs like Beyond the Doors of the Dark are just killer.
o much bad reverb. The overall production is bad. Epic album. I would love to hear a modern remix.
