Lord - Alge is interesting though, I think James Lugo had gone to one of his mixing seminars and said he came back with some great insight. I also think the mix sounds great despite being way too loud like most modern music.

This is correct. From the "Metallica: Behind The Music". Shinedown was a band out together by a record company. Basically, the vocalist caught their eye, so they found other musicians to surround him.
