I truly believe today is an excuse and a precursor because Israel will fire a nuke sometime soon. I want to be wrong but I don't believe I am...sadly.

The US does have a tremendous amount of oil but I doubt prices will come down "very fast".

Yes, the USI has a lot of oil, but (as you and I both know) most of it is shale oil which is a very light fraction. They need a heavy crude to blend with in order to refine the needed products. This can come from Canada, Venezuela or elsewhere. So a lot must be imported regardless of how much the USI produces.
Either way, it's a global market and a supply shock in the Gulf will drive prices up for everyone.
One more reason to get off fossil fuels as quickly as possible (my cost to drive, heat, cool and everything remains stable and low regardless of fluctuations in fossil fuel prices.)
