Diezel Herbert with my soon to come "Rick Toone" ergonomic custom guitar.
I just checked out the Rick Toone site. He has some great ideas. Are you getting a Hex neck?
If by hex neck you mean the trapezoidal neck, then yes.
Rick Toone asked me for several body measurements, and requested pictures of my playing postures (in various angles). We went through lots of e-mails to assure that the guitar was built to my complete comfort and specifications. I'll pay upfront for the project on summer 2011 and Rick Toone already saved me a quote until then.
Here are the specs of the guitar:
Neck:
Trapezoidal Neck Profile.
Neck-into-body.
Curly maple (stained).
Orchid headstock style with straight string pull on headstock.
Tri-compound ebony fingerboard.
24.75" scale.
22 frets.
Natural bone nut.
Hickory stained wood plug side markers.
Stainless steel frets.
Aircraft grade aluminum neck core.
Body:
Dove ergonomic body balanced for standing or seated performance.
Sculpted curly maple (top) and swamp ash (back).
Controls and pickup switch to be placed like on the Dove Baritone.
Black control plates placed on the back of the instrument.
Hardware:
Hipshot lightweight (locking) tuners (6 in-line).
Toone & Townsend simplicity bridge.
Master volume and master tone controls. Knob style to be like on the Claro Walnut Partial-Fret Bass.
Direct mounted/no pickup rings (with adjustable height) "Holydiver" Bare Knuckle Pickups humbuckers. Neck pickup placed on 24th fret node.
Switchjack Endpin Jack. To be placed where the strap button at the tail end resides on the Dove Baritone.
Black hardware.
Finish:
Hand rubbed semi-gloss finish.
Color to be like photos at the bottom of link: "An American Tradition"
http://www.housebrothersproject.com/art ... icle1.html
Slightly darker finish.
Shipping:
Black ATA Calzone flight case form fitted to the instrument with plush "black" lining fit.
Guitar shipped to Tucson, Arizona.
Pricing:
Guitar — $3,900 with stainless steel access plates or $4,100 with black anodized aluminum access plates (I chose black).
• UPS Ground Shipping to Tucson, AZ — $100 (estimated via UPS website)
• ATA Flight Case — Variable depending on manufacturer. Calzone is $450 (approximate)
A good (online) friend of mine highly recommends his work. He states that it is "impeccable" and "perfect". I also talk with "Goran" (you can find his info on the main site). This guy has ordered lots of custom guitars (by lots I mean A LOT) from several "top class" shops in the world and he says that none compare to Toone's work.
Once building starts, I'll make sure to place the process and my final views on Rig-Talk.
