IIc+ pricing...worth 10k?

I had one too Dave, it was a blue stripe with a export transformer and Mike worked it up to a level that no MKIII has ever been I'm sure. 5X it went back and forth until he had it where it was just unreal but still after all that the feel/touch and bounce that a IIC+ is known for was missing.

I keep hearing about the 105 in mark III amps having the it factor but that is all bs. I think u would have liked my blue stripe w/export. That amp was consistent in how u describe your JCA20.
I had a black dot with 105 and it wasnt anything like the 2C+. My old Mark III++ was obviously a little different from the 2C++, but I've found that every 2C+ amp I've owned would sonically change as the power transformer heats up. They amp gets a little softer and loses a slight bit of aggression. I would put fans directly on the power transformer to keep the heat away. The coliseum would get crazy hot within an hour of playing. This also happens with Marshall amps as well. That Mark III wouldn't get hot and sonically never change from minute 5 to minute 120, This is a big reason why I loved that amp. My shit JCA20 has an over size power (and output) transformer and doesn't get anything more than slightly warm.

So let's speculate a little bit here for the hell of it. Let's say over the next 5-10 years, the Gibson/Mesa partnership flourishes. A Mark VI is released and it's everything we could dream of.

Even if that DID happen, 2C+ owners would never admit it and they'd still find ways to shit on it

Funny but totally impossible. Look at every vintage piece that has what new gear doesn't. Process and materials at a given time produce certain qualities that can in some casess be duplicated but not in every instance.

Yep and then the wait . It will be worth it . I can’t wait lol but got to

Have you played a Larry before? Or are you going in cold? If you haven't had the pleasure yet, I'm actually a little jealous that you will get that "first time" experience with your PMM. Larry amps have a lot of one-of-a-kind qualities that make it unlike any other high gainer.

I played a 939 in the 2000s in Germany as a foreign exchange student, and it was a game-changer for me.

I have not played . I just liked what I been hearing. I’m so excited it’s insane

Prices are through the roof even on the modern iic+ update, the JP2C. People are asking 5-6k. Doesn't mean they will get it.

The JP2C and all the newer Mesa's ship with JJ preamp tubes. Could that be the reason new Mesa's suck?
Mesa sources their tubes from many different manufacturers, including JJ. I dug up a thread from 2014 SS.org where Mesa chimes in: https://www.sevenstring.org/threads/who-makes-mesa-boogie-tubes.267918/

Back then, they were using JJ preamp tubes. I can't say for sure what they are using at the moment, but my JP-2C has a full set of JJ pre/power and after comparing it to a full set of "Mesa" 12ax7's and STR440's, I liked the JJ's slightly better, but it's pretty close TBH.

I have a vested interest in shitting on any further Mark Series amplifier. My retirement plan is to sell my IIC+'s for $50k each.

jp 2c's were being listed for a few months there, really really high because i guess you couldn't order one from mesa until they got the new transformers. i did see a few people trying to gouge, but only on reverb.com

Sure, if you are talking about the pricier limited edition (which still have several less than 5k) and/or listings outside of the US

I’m still waiting for someone to sell a 2c+ . Please I’m ready lol . Not finding one I want

That amp isn't selling anytime soon.

Hey. So this thread has been awesome lol. I’m friends with the guy who posted it, sold last night for 10k. Hell it was an experiment to see how forums would react and I told him it’ll be gone in a matter of days. Does that mean I post my IV for 4k? Nah.
