Ilok / Slate frustrations

Wow! Remind me never to buy another Slate program... the idea may be good and in theory it should run smooth but f_ck this. Getting it to work on an offline system, finally after three days of dicking around i get my plugins loaded and Reaper is hanging and sitting on the Slate programs trying to load them. Never have i been so fucking annoyed with anything in the recording chain and this is definitely not making me make "great music" any faster. What a shit system this is... i am still "minutes away" from enjoying my legendary plugins which won't load in Reaper. This has got to be the worst 299$ I have spent in ages.

Anyone get these to work with Reaper? Trying to take on DLL at a time out of plugins till the shit loads.

Fek, that's shitty. I don't deal w/reaper, but I feel your pain. I'm sure once it all loads and starts functioning it'll be great.

Man I have been using them for a few months now and it's been smooth sailing. Sorry to hear you're having issues.

Yep, contacted them last night because the VST are kicked out because it tells me that it cannot load the path to DLL. Oddly enough, the scuff man plugin loads fine so what the heck? Still waiting in their response , nothing so far. When you go into your Ilok license manager, beside the bundle, is there a little icon of a lock? I am thinking maybe they did not unlock the license for me to use?? Scuffman doesn't have this little lock and it works. Very frustrating. How quick is their response usually?

Usually within 48 hours and they really walked me through the issue I had when they updated VMR indent wouldn't load.

ILok is going to go the way of the dodo eventually and thank goodness for that. I stopped using the Slate stuff because of the issues I had which could not be resolved by iLok or Slate. Thank goodness Two-Notes moved away from it as they had a bunch of issues with them as well.

Ridiculous. I sympathize with you on this one. I have some free plugins that came with my Clarett interface via Softube and they are another company that needs to get with the times and use a different security method.

Glad I am not the only one with these issues.

So did Slate reimburse/refund you for your issues? I can tell you that I would much prefer 300$ back to put down on a microphone then go back and forwards on this. They told me they had not seen this before so I am sending a screen shot as we speak..

I got Nada from them. Barely any help. I was told to download another version of the program from a strange backport address of their site. I had my iLok completely working fine and up to date.

I just gave up from the frustration and lack of responses.

Moved on to EZ drummer 2 and Addictive drums. Both of those give me all I need to make things sound great. They also work and sound great. No issues updating either of them regularly and thankfully no iLok needed to do it.

In the end, with any mixing, I do most of what I need to do in the box and it works great. I'm using Studio One 3.

Well I am giving up.. their response has been good though so kudos to them for that but i read that i could install this on an offline computer (and how easy it was!) and now they would like me to put my 6+ year old computer with no security and outdated windows security packs online so we can schedule a session. While I do understand that they need to do this to troubleshoot and this is the best way, for me this is a no go. I am not going to sit there and potentially compromise my whole system. I have asked them if i can be refunded minus the cost of the dongle. I just don't see this model working for any company. Extremely frustrating to work with and only one of the licenses seem to work. The slate stuff can't locate DLL's and they are clearly there. What a nightmare, I am big time turned off. Too bad because i really wanted to use their compressors and console emulation along with the preamp emulation. ilok should die.
