The guy is one of the most un-interesting players ever. All that speed and nothing to say with it.

When I say there was a huge pool of talent between Springfield, MA and Hartford, CT. I am not kidding. Dudes were just crazy. So many skilled players.

I used to think the same thing about Chicago. Then in 1985, I moved to LA. Things were just at a completely different level here.

Couple of the tracks make me think *Grim Reaper with a faster guitarist*...which is cool.

Chub, you're really not going to start the east coast - west coast debate, are you ??? :)

I wasn't aware this was something people debated. I can assure you no one on the west coast ever debated this, not when it came to the rock scene and influential guitarists.

Then I'll start it here...we get Steve Vai, Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Tony Mac Alpine, Vinnie Moore, Impelliteri, Nuno, Darren Housholder, Reb Beach, Dave "Snake" Sabo & Scotti Hill, Richie Sambora, Vinny Vincent, Ace Frehley, Paul Di Bartolo, Doug Blair, Gene Ditrina to start...

You get EVH, Rhoads, Lynch, Lee and Di Martini to start...but you have to take Mick Mars and CC too, which should count against some of the other guys...lol

impy was such a nepolianic tool bag when i met him. it was single handedly the rudest anyone has ever been to me. he was such an yngwie clone i truly think he took to heart all the rumors about yngwie's arrogance (which weren't true btw) and embraced that too.

his singer was my good friend and i went to their rehearsal studio for a hang

my friend introduced me as a shredding guitar player buddy to impy, and as i went to shake the impy one's hand, he said "looks like a f'in jerk to me.." and walked away.

dan the beast spitz was standing right there and he looked me apologetically, then at impy and was like "why you gotta be like that you $&@", and my friend was in shock and couldn't believe what happened. i just turned and walked out the door before i let it get to me. but i never forgot it. hope he has changed!

does he still play exactly like yngwie?

Oof, the majority of your list either had to move to the west coast to make it or shouldn't really be on a list like this.

PS. CC DeVille is an east coaster using your terms.

PPS. We should have a basketball dynasty debate too. Boston Celtics vs. LA Clippers. Yes, I said Clippers.... shows you how much I dig some of those east coast guitarists. :)

Cool. Cool... BUT you DIDN'T have to drag the Celtics into it !

Eastern Ma was great too, with Nuno from Extreme and Paul Di Bartolo from Bang and later Spread Eagle. There was also Gene Ditrina from Mass.
New England as a whole was just awesome back then for music. I moved away in 1994. It's funny. Bands I used to open for still play. There was a dude named Anthony Bambino that was a good shredder in a band called Spoiled Rotten that was pretty killer. He went on to do some albums and make a little noise I believe.
Yea, I agree. I grew up in Vermont and I saw Vice several times, but only after Impelliteri left. They had a guy by the name of Jim Michaels (I think) who was great. I remember him saying he used to take lessons from McAlipine.

Northern Star, Dubiel, and Run21 were some of my faves at the time. The guys in Run21 went on to play in Wasp and if I remember correctly the drummer played in Impelliteri for a while. I wasn't a huge fan of 8084, but Andre the guitar player was great.
