My Neumann NDH-20 broke. The Ear Pads, to be precise. With no force or misuse whatsoever.
Replacement Pads are 49.- €
I got upset. Dismissed Neumann altogether including the KH310 Monitors i have and ordered a pair of Genelec 8040bpm with the matching stands and a new pair of AKG271 MK-2.
Sounds silly, doesn't it?
I thought for a while about trying out the 8040 again before, to be fair (to myself
). Mostly because of the sharper phantom centre and less phase canceletions since theres only 1 crossover point at 3khz in the Genelec compared to 2 in the Neumanns (650hz and 2khz). The Neumanns are also a bit on the soft side.
We can now either talk about silly impuslive buying decisions or Studio Monitors.
I could end up with new Monitors, or simply with a new pair of Headphones.
My old AKGs lasted for 15 Years and they are still working, but are a bit beat up.
