No, one KH750 can support both 310s. And you're right about it coming later. But I just wanted to put my two cents in on these and let you know you're not really getting the real experience with your monitors without the proper setup. I'm coming from years with ATCs prior to these so they're not the only great monitors I've worked with. Also a three way monitor will always paint a clearer picture for your, especially in the mid range, than a two way. But in the end, this is your setup, go with what works for you! Always dig your tones and recordings so I'm sure your ear will guide you to the right place. My interface is the Apogee Symphony Mk2 SE.

Thanks. I think there's always room to improve. The footprint of the 310s vs the 8040s is very different. I'm still trying and comparing the 2. Already changed the position of them for the third time today. I've not decided yet. Yes, i know one is technically enough, but you mono your bass in that case. Just saying. I'm sure it's a killer set-up and you got your mind free from the room, so to say. It's just personal preference in my case. I wanna take full use of the Prism Sound Lyra DA. I had a look at the ATCs too. Which one did you have? The 25s?

I've got way too many but mostly beyerdynamic, sennheiser and audio-technica. I think beyerdynamic is the best for durability and the replacement parts are also the cheapest though whether people like their tuning is personal preference. Audio-technica models tend to vary in sound a lot from model to model with more premium models not necessarily sounding "better" but different. I also don't do any music production stuff on mine so I wouldn't comment on any for that task.


Also the sweet spot for 3-way compared to a 2-way is always something to keep in mind.

It's mainly for tracking guitars. I'm still trying to make up my mind. New they sound a bit cheap. The velour-pads help too, but i did not replace the standard ones yet. Yes, the thing with the sweet spot is interesting. What are your thoughts about that?

Well your bass in your mix is almost always mono anyway, at least 80hz and down, and it's also omni directional at those frequencies. You won't easily pinpoint where it's coming from. And you can always get a second one down the line if you really want. The D/A is totally transparent for my monitoring fwiw. For the ATCs, I had both the SCM25 Pro Mk1 and the SCM20 Pro Mk2. Either one will need a sub for sure.

usually 3-way requires you to sit back a bit further than 2-ways, people sometimes buy 3-way and say they suck but really they're just sitting too close.
