I just sent out my '98 Marshall SPL to Martin Golub to have his Lead Mod and a Tube FX loop installed. I love Doug Aldrich's tone so hopefully I can capture some of that. Hope to see it in about 2 months.

Hmmmm............. nice.jonny toetags":3meyo1xy said:I hope it only takes 2 months....I was quoted that and it took closer to 5.![]()
When you say biased just right, what are we talking % wise?Hollywood":2c9b9fyl said:I have a Golub modded marshall, and while it is only great for one thing.. it is very good at a few other tones.
But if you are looking for a quite different take on what Mark cameron does for lead work, then you will absolutely love what Martin Golub does as well.![]()
I think of the Golub modded marshall as the Pony Express.
It is made to ride hard and go, go, go.![]()

It will be worth the wait...... I do not for the life of me understand why more guys are not sending amps to Martin.
Even if you do wait a bit longer.
Hell, he is actually sending them all back, as far as I know.
A big thing to remember with Martin's amp mods is the amp must be biased just right to sound the best, There is a night and day difference in what you will have or think you did not get if the bias is not where it should be.
More so with the mods he does than other amps I have got in my building done by other builders.![]()
I think so. But keep in mind you are seeking Doug Aldrich's tone and that is a mid based cut of sorts.Lp Freak":czgzv39o said:Wow, I'm really getting stoked now. How's the bottom end? Enough of it and tight?
That's fine with me. Doug's tone is sweet. I wonder if I can get his fingers along with the mod?Hollywood":1rmo00mf said:I think so. Not uber like but more, marshall gets the job done as usual.
I'm thinking the same thing!jerrydyer":2fibk9at said:are the mods done with gold plated components? damn! you guys must make a lot more than I do.![]()

Adding tube gain stages, fine tuning existing satges, jose mv's with the diodes, converting a cathode following tone stack to a plate driven tone stack, even the so called hottest ticket in town , the new AFD is just duplicating v1b on a 2203, using a lower value like 220k on both voltage dividers etc. Cascade mods, RR mods, one wire mods all these different names for basically the same thing..........shop around, do a little reading, youll be glad you did. I whip out three high gain mods in the past 2 weeks. 3 months for anything he should be building you a new amp.
