Is anyone buying gear anymore?

Seriously its next to impossible to sell anything over $1000. I even tried Reverb and its the same situation. Everyone's looking to lowball you on already low prices.

Then you got the clueless ones that try and sell for almost new prices. It's a sad situation.

Anyone have success stories out there? Where are you selling your stuff. I don't mean pedals and pickups. I'm talking gear over $1000.

I've been having really good luck on reverb, seems like everything I put on there sells after some time. I don't bother with Craigslist anymore, too many lowballers. I also have good luck with forums with alot of traffic such as TGP or the myLesPaul forums. But stuff definitely is not selling as fast as it used to.

Nada dude. Have a couple amps I threw up after I got the Axe from you, and nothing....priced well below value too.

Same for guitars. Had a dude looking for something, I had it and hit him with it and he disappeared, and I priced it at 50 percent of what it cost new, and they don't make them anymore. Threw my LPC up for under $2k and got nothing but trade offers, and a bunch of those were 2 for 1....I don't need 2 $700 guitars and I have no use for amps. It's nuts...you almost have to give stuff away to get rid of it anymore.

For that kind of crap it can sit in my storage...there's no point in unloading guitars for 30% of what I paid for them. I'd rather give them away to friends that like them than deal with guys that are just basically trying to get shit for almost free.

I've sold a few things but I've had to go to evil bay to do so. I've had to mark my items higher so that I could sell them. It's weird.

Seems like nobody is buying anything on rig talk or anywhere else...I price my stuff so cheap and it is still hard to get rid of it...

I picked up a used minty, 5153 Stealth for iirc 1700 bucks but it had been sitting around for a little while by the time I was able to get the cash together.

I've had some pretty good luck on Reverb. Recently sold a CCV on RT, but those amps pretty much sell themselves. CCV aside, thd last 5 or 6 items I've sold have been on Reverb.

I buy.

Rarely sell.

JJ incoming. Possibly a TB'59.

Life's good :salute:

I was a buyer this year, mostly used items over $1000. Bogner Shiva head, Anderson Hollow Classic, Gibson Les Paul Classic. It was largely funded through trades or selling gear on consignment, most of which was in the $500-1000 range ( LP Studio, EBMM Axis, Mesa Mark III, Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass).

Most of us are smart when it comes to buying musical gear (whatever it may be).

We do our due-diligence, hunt it down and grab it for what it is.

95% of the folks on these music boards buy amps, guitars, etc. and spend the rest of their worthless time looking into modifying it (for whatever stupid reason).

The Greeks called these type of people "idiōtēs" or translated from Greek ἰδιώτης "idiots". Or a "uneducated or ignorant person".

Just look around, they're ubiquitous.

Luckily I am not in a desperate situation but it is definitely a tough market. We may have some people come here and tell us that we are selling "old man gear" but they can shove that up their ass.

I've been trying to unload stuff before I move but have had success on eBay. Buyers on Reverb do piss me of though. I swear, nobody will buy anything from you unless it's a $100 under your asking price. Like seriously, if I have a painted Fuzz Factory for $180, I'll get 3 different people offer me $80 and message me insulted that I turned them down. Like what the actual fuck? /Rant

Just because you think your gear is worth $1000, does not mean that you will find a buyer at such a price. You have to give concrete examples of gear you are trying to sell that is not moving. Otherwise my assumption is that you are pricing your gear too high.

Really crazy how things have completely flipped. Just a few years ago people would list items here and if it were a Cameron or Friedman modded Marshall, BFG, you name it it would last maybe a week tops, sometimes hours. Now they just sit and sit.....definitely a buyers market.

Yeah, I need a new car so I posted my GMW, but not cause I expected it to even get so much as a nibble - really more to see what the views to zero responses ratio would be   And that ratio is pretty impressive so far :)
I know, I know...something is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay.....guess the GMW goes back into the closet for another 5 years. It doesn't kill the car deal, however it would have allowed me to get the tech package

Definitely a buyer's market and looks like it will stay that way. I am so glad that I finished up my gear selling before it really got bad out there. I sold quite a few high end items on Reverb within a six month period close to a year ago with no problems at all. I've noticed within the past several months how bad things have got. Buyers can beat you down as much as they want now and if you don't budge, they can just move on to the next deal. Seems to be less buyers nowadays and the market is just saturated with used gear. Luckily, I am extremely content with the gear I have now.

VC4Ever I think I know which sale you are referring to. I'm shocked it didn't sell. I think it's the overall economy. It's still on life support. Good news is that if the dollar ever collapses the gear will be worth more (in dollars at least). :D

I tend to buy and hold onto gear forever..

It seems like not as many people have $$$ floating around to purchase used gear. idk
