Is anyone buying gear anymore?

Nobody is taking chances on gear. You can sell IIC+ or CCV or an XTC anywhere pretty easy. But the gear that's not as valued will sit for weeks.

I dont know....I just bought a brand new amp from Sweetwater. :D
If people want it....they will buy it.

What did you get Big D?

On to the OP. It is a great topic. I had an Uberkabb at a price shipped that no one could touch. Tire kickers here and there. I just decided to keep it.

i still buy guitars, i think i got 6 or 7 in the past 18 months but i rarely post new guitar day threads anymore, i figure nobody really cares to see every guitar somebody buys. i havent bought any amps in a while, im pretty happy with my amp lineup and i hardly ever buy pedals.

I mostly bought new this year. Fractal FX8 and a Kemper rack. I did buy a used 99' Ibanez Jem. But definitely took a hit selling gear. Sold a Jackson RR-3 mint condition $400 finally got it moved. Sold a mint condition vintage white ESP Eclipse not an LTD but a ESP $700 finally got it moved and a G-Force I let go for $250. But it helped to get the new gear I wanted.

I'm definitely still buying, but when I can do no interest promo deals through my GC card or PayPal credit. No cash deals for me when I can get free money.
I see some decent deals on here and TGP that I would like to go for but anything over 3-400 right now is a no go without me selling something i have. Judging by this thread, that ain't gonna happen..

I traded in an amp I got from GC, back to GC. Took the hit and moved on, quick and as painless as I could muster. I've sold a guitar ($800) and an amp (900) on craigslist in the last year. Took a while but happened. I definitely don't buy anything that hasn't been on my radar for a while.

I mostly buy off GC used anymore. I troll for mispriced stuff. Also like the 30 day return policy. It's easier to buy a thousand dollar amp knowing that if it sucks I can send it back. You used to be able to gamble on an amp you were not sure about on the forums, because you could just resell it. Now you may end up owning it forever.

Anyone have success stories out there? Where are you selling your stuff. I don't mean pedals and pickups. I'm talking gear over $1000.
Most of us are smart when it comes to buying musical gear (whatever it may be).

We do our due-diligence, hunt it down and grab it for what it is.

95% of the folks on these music boards buy amps, guitars, etc. and spend the rest of their worthless time looking into modifying it (for whatever stupid reason).

The Greeks called these type of people "idiōtēs" or translated from Greek ἰδιώτης "idiots". Or a "uneducated or ignorant person".

Just look around, they're ubiquitous.
:jerkit: Get back to tuggin' yer thumb-tack Dave.

He asked about selling gear, ἰδιώτης! ;)

Guitars sell, but who's buying?

I sold my Ibanez Xiphos on Reverb a week ago. $500
$400 loss. Got what I wanted though. Wasn't going to go lower.

Yes, people are cheap as fuck.

I haven't been buying much in the last year or so. Been mainly saving up to start a construction project building an actual studio, so that I can graduate up from the dork crowd that lists "kept in my smoke free studio" that really just means a bedroom you throw all your crap in.

I 2nd GC used. I've made my last few purchases through them, they will ship anything that you find online to your local store, and some of it is priced as cheap as anywhere, and can use GC credit on top of that interest free.

3 parts casters in 12 months. All spent at local guitar shops near by. I can't afford to do much more than that. But it's something.

This for me. At this point, I'm more of an amp shopper and intrigued by the 2C+ and the like...found a 2C for 900 and it will get the plus soon. Just put cash down on a 2B Coli yesterday. .for 749! GC for both...its kinda like a treasure hunt for me, and if I don't like it I return it. But I've kept plenty. ...

I've experienced slow selling times and it always picked up again but yes now you need real patience...
I remember when most high end amps wouldn't last 2days or even hours and they would be gone.

Yeah, Still buying some stuff here and there,, I am pretty content with what I have now and I am being extremely picky for a while,, only buying what I REALLY want and will keep for a while.

Gear? Not lately!
Motorcycles? Yessiree! After an eleven year reprieve form road racing, I'm going back to the track for some much needed track day sessions. Got the Ducati 1098 a few months ago. Day after I got back from Sturgis, I brought my GTL k1600 in for service and rode home on a new s1000rr. A week later I was back on a local track. Looking forward to another T-Day this weekend.

Nice bikes! Congrats. Be safe........

I am always looking for specific stuff, but have decided that I need to do the "1 in/1 out (at least)" at this point. Too many amps are living at friends houses. Many haven't been played in years.

Tough market if you're a seller for sure. LOTS of bottom feeding trying to lowball at least by $100 for stuff that's already priced somewhat aggressively.
Good to see some sharing of similar thoughts here.
