speaking of pickups. what pickups is Mark C using in those clips?

He doesn't know. Some guy hand wound them for him and he has no idea how to get a hold of the guy.

I'm not discounting that pickups play a big role because they do. But watching clips of all three guys, Mark C and Dave seem to have heavier right hands than Mark D. Not a better/worse thing just a personal pref. Some guys have a more controlled right hand, economy of motion, etc. Other guys dig in, rake, etc....play each chord like they are trying to punch you out. :D It has a HUGE effect on the tone.

I have had some crazy experiences with listening to Mark Cameron play. I have taken mods back to him for some fine tuning or gone to pick up an amp and had him playing my amp and listened to MY amp and thought that I was hearing the absolute best tone in the world. But, me on that same amp, it still sounded very good, but not like listening to Mark. I have a heavy handed picking attack too, but there is just something about the way that Mark plays in combination with his amps that has been flooring me for 15 years.

His last clip where he was playing the Gary Moore stuff with a more vintage, hard rock tone was just stellar too and had me GASSING for a Cameron.

cool clip, shows a lot of varied tones in the amp with just switching pickups and working the volume control. Mark C has a nice touch too.

The best Camerons that I have ever played were his Modded Marshalls. The CCV's, while cool, werent in the same ball park IMHO...

And hell yeah, Mark Cameron can tear it up...

+1. Probably because they're Marshall's.

Sold my CCV and still have my HG/LG Jose JMP 2203...it is truly my desert island amp

^^^ +1 Would love to hear a clip of Mark playing one of those... or the boosted JMP that 232cap posted a clip of a short time ago.

Mark can tear it up for sure...

Yes, well said.
If you dig in hard you can play with less gain, then you have more clarity and it just overall sounds great.

I need to punch out my guitar more. :D

I'm not a Nu-Metal guy but would like to hear a downtuned guitar into a Cameron clip.

I agree Mike and I am willing to bet that pup is low output ;) A player digging in just gets something others do not.

That amp shines imo with the right player and not trying to slam the front end with stupid input levels.

Mark told me the guitar in the original NAMM video had a dimarzio super distortion??

Please don't underestimate the difference a guitar and its pickups make. Staggering....

I guess Mark's and Dave's guitars are keepers!

Just to expand on my point. The variance in guitars/pickups/strings/picks/speakers/cab/cables/player has to be 100 fold vs the variance in a well produced line of amplifiers.
Get Rockstah on one and I bet without much fuss he could make it sound brown.

i would tend to agree although if i'm hearing correctly it has 4 gain stages and wonder if it would get the true open clankiness of ed's tone especially in the bass notes. don't get me wrong here, i think Mark's amps sound great but i have have never been able to get that sound with 4 stages... hey Mark!, no cathode follower or is there an extra tube? :)

as for the, is it the amp or the player i think i can speak for Mark as well as myself and any other tone/amp builder... when you are building a tool for tone it goes hand in hand. you have to be able to play and it has to be able to deliver what you play. Edward would sound like himself on a fender twin but he would need what he used to reproduce Eruption as we know it.

brad, you guys have a killer product. and mark is a VERY good player. if mr zappa uses your amp that would be a great advertisement. best of luck on your amp line !

IMHO clips are almost useless to truly judge an amp.

I agree, too many damn variables to consider. Fingers, guitars, pickups, environment etc etc etc

i dont know... if they weren't somewhat of a judge i wouldn't be close to getting the brown sound by basing tweaks listening to vh1.

Exactly. Not only that but the mic used, placement, position in the room, effects of compression on the file. I can't say how many times I've been mislead by them. Way to many to count.

It actually makes me laugh now when guys comment on clips "wierd top end", "no growl", "no juju"

And I'd bet a million dollars that that amp doesn't sound exactly like that with me playing it or what it sounds like standing next to it.

im not so sure about that. thats like saying someone that records a song and it sound like yngwie that it doesnt sound like when your in the room with him. i see what you are saying i just dont agree with the extreme that its being taken too.
