The captor x doesn't have an on/off switch, will it hurt to leave it on all the time in the studio, or do I need to un/plug it after every use?

you can leave it on, but for to preserve the unit's lifetime, I recommend you turn it off when you finish playing at the end of the day. Your amp will still be safe if you forget to plug the Captor X back on. The load box does not need to be powered to be active.
