This is one fine sounding pedal! Sounds like tube amp distortion to my ears. This, and an MI Crunch Box would cover a lot of Marshall territory.

There needs to be a warning on Pete Thorn videos, "this video may cause GAS due to the killer playing and stellar tones, do not view if your credit cards are maxed."

I love how Pete gets to the point of the pedal being dark without actually saying its dark. In the video, thought the tight mode sounded better. Gain knob didn't seem to do as much as I had hoped.

Ah for the crunch box, used to own one, don't miss it at all, sounded very distortion pedal like in that it really narrowed the frequency band and cut the bass.

Dammit! I just purchased a CB version 1 for $75.00

Man that sounds fantastic.
Thorn vids are nothing but trouble.

I was going through Pete Thorn's demos last night, which prompted me to checking out some of his studio and live work... Very impressive!

That is exactly the problem, everything he demos sounds great!

I do not believe that pedal is a s good as a Bogner Burnley, Amptweaker BigRock Pro, Empress Wffects Heavy, AMT P2, Emma Electronic RF-2 ReezaFRATzitz, or Wampler Plextortion.

Just my opinion.

Thanks! I wanted an LED diode clipping pedal, and the Crunch Box seemed to sound the best. Very amp-like to my ears.

As cool as that sounds I don't hear an amp, it sounds like a great pedal.

No; this is better.

pete thorn must be the luckiest guy on the planet (maybe he should buy a lottery ticket). Because tone isn't in the hands yet he always sounds great....how does he always find the best sounding gear while others seem to find the duds :D

The Burnley is a fantastic pedal. I know they classify it as a Distortion pedal, it works very well as an OD/Boost. It's lush and fat-sounding.

EXACTLY. He makes everything sound amazing. His demos should come with a disclaimer: "WARNING - your tone with this pedal may or not be as awesome as Pete's"

I had the version 2. But I mostly used it for practice and backup. I use to run it through a crate power block and it sounded killer. As a matter of fact, if I had my JCM head sitting on my 4 x 12, most people would have never known. If you turn he gain up too much they can get compressed. But just turn the gain down a little. I ran it through a clean amp though. If you already have the amp set crunchy, it doesn't work as well.

I just got through using the MI Crunch Box with my GT20 combo clean channel, and you are 100% correct! This is not a booster pedal, by any stretch. Using it on the gain channel resulted in a ton of blocking distortion. Switching over to the clean/crunch channel = heavens part! This is the closest I've ever been to getting true amp-like tone out of a stomp box. I had to dial-in the presence, to get a feel that works for me. Mine is a version 2 w/presence pot inside the box. An ex-bandmate told me to get the V2 instead of the newer V3... I'd still like to check-out the V3.

Nice, glad the crunchbox v2 is working for you. I liked the crunchbox v2 until I started using it with a band. Than I compared it to the barber dirty bomb, bogner red, hermida distortion, Marshall guv'nor and just preferred those other pedals.

Glad you found adjusting the precence trim pot, it makes a big difference and is often overlooked.

As to the bogner burnley, seems like a cool pedal, but sticking with my red right now. May think differently when the bogner Lagrange finally comes out.

Hey guys, glad you dig the vid! The Burnley is indeed killer- great pedal, all the Bogners are, really. They just make really good stuff. Hard to go wrong!

If you feel so inclined, please do a short clip of the V3 MI Crunch Box.
