A Boogie preamp, not a bike :D

Got it for a very fair price . . . and b/c I've liked my Studio Pre a lot (sold it unfortunately) I can finally record silently again at night again (and can run my "Black Tiger" thru the loop as well), I think the rec out is pretty cool on this one, no? I liked it on my Studio Pre . . .

Best thing is that it looks like new, was hardly used and collected dust for the last 10 years (yeah, I'll have a look at the filter caps). FS is included.

Back into the 80s :D

Wow, that thing looks almost brand new. Nice score!

I should have bought guitarslingers

Very cool Olaf!!!!

Rock on Olaf!!! I can hear the opening VRRROOOMM slide to Still Of The Night from here :D

Not sure if I should buy that tasty 2/50/2 which is on ebay currently :D

Congrats, Olaf! That was a damn nice score. I don't think I've ever seen one in that good condition. Scooped mids, eh? :D Please, do a WS 1987 clip with that beast!

Congrats Olaf ! I wouldn't mind having one of those myself

Congrats Olaf, haven't heard anything but good things about those...

Very nice, one of the coolest pieces they ever made. They work better with marshall's 9200 pwr. amp, than anything boogie made!! I think the record-out is very different on the quad than the studio 22.

one of the cleaner looking quad preamps I've seen in awhile.
Hell with the 50 watter...look for a "coliseum 300" power amp.

One of the meanest, most-forgiving, loudest, most killer preamps I ever owned.

I liked it more than my CAE 3+ in alomst every category.

only problem with Quad = weight, size, lack of midi, inherent design flaws ( bass must be on one, one channel is WAY louder than other channel, etc.)

Otherwise, it's like Vintage Metallica in a box, but 40% better.

Merci mes amis.

I will do some clips - the question is: who should play that WS stuff - I can't :D

better or worse?

Thanks.

Its apples and oranges. I think the studio 22 sounded a little better high-gain, but it was really purpose-built for recording, it just happened to sound great as a front end to a pwr amp. Built like a panzer tank. Of all the rack mount, guitar preamp things out there, those 2 will be running in the next ice age! When I say I think the st-22 sounded better, I'm talking about the sound quality of the record-out, not the gain characteristics, for that matter, I like the quad better. It defined an era. Congrats! very cool find !

One of my favorite preamps FO SHO!

Looks to be in great shape too. Cool score!

Thanks everybody - I forgot the VHT for a while and went with a used Hughes/Kettner VS250 first (pretty cheap, 8 EL84s), Lets see if I will dig the 80s again :D

Nah, your gonna hate that thing! Sell it to me now, and spare yourself the stress of another bad purchase !!

I would... Damn, I love mine!

I had one many years ago. It would have been just a bit too much at the moment, you know.
I'll start with the baby tubes thing again first :D
