Best move to make. It's worth the inconvenience/hassle/time spent to pack it like a champion. Peace of mind for both yourself and the person on the other side of the deal. I always pack the stuff I sell like how I would want it to be packed if I was the one buying it.This is exactly why i pack guitars and amps "ridiculously."
I'd rather it takes them a half hour to unpack it, and have it arrive safe and sound.
I just got a new Fryette FatBottom 4x12 cab a few weeks ago, which was delivered by FedEx. FedEx driver pulls up and puts (or dropped, who knows, I didn't witness that part) the box on the ground and started rolling the box on the concrete towards my front door. Dude literally thought that was a better idea to do a tire flip-style workout with my brand new cab than to just ring the bell and get me out there to help him carry it over. I happened to walk by and look out my window as he was in the midst of that. Immediately ran out to help him carry it over the rest of the way to the door. Box had been busted up only on the front side, but the cab managed to be totally unscathed, thankfully.Tell that one to the FedEx driver who literally threw my ENGL Inferno on the driveway right in front of me as I was reaching to take it from him. Thank goodness there was no damage since I bought it new and was sealed and secured well in the factory packing.
Honestly never had an issue with UPS so far, maybe I'm lucky. Pretty much by default go with them anyway and I never really bothered with FedEx prior to this. I've also heard way more complaints/horror stories over the past few years from people's experiences with FedEx primarily. So when the cab finally shipped and I saw that GC sent it out with FedEx, I was already a bit wary. I know a 4x12 cab is heavy, but I certainly didn't expect FedEx to have a CrossFit session with my package lol.
