I've heard similar stories from many people. People I know personally, have had the same issues. I've talked to WB on the phone several times a couple years back. He was very cool to me on the phone every time....more or less just shootin' the shit about gear. Never, on any forum, have I talked bad or told any stories I personally know to be true. This is my experience.
I was talking to him about making me some pickups early on when he was first getting started. We discussed what pickups I like and which of his would be best for me. For a short period of time he had this thing going where he'd send out a trial set of pickups to you without buying them. He first told me he'd send me a set, if I didn't like them, send them back on my dime...if I liked them, paypal him or call him with payment. I thought, wow - that's super cool of him. So he told me when he was ready to ship them out. I wait a couple weeks and call back to find out if he sent them.------from here, the story is like most people's(he's gonna ship them the next day, next week, with the next shipment, etc, etc, etc). I talked to him about 4 different times. The 2nd or 3rd time I spoke with him, he actually told me that if I liked them I could just keep them. I told him, "Man, I will pay for them if like them - not a problem". He insisted on giving the pickups to me for free if wanted them, on the condition he could use my name on his site. I thought, hell, no problem - go ahead. So 4-5x I spoke with him and they were supposed to ship out. One excuse after another(like everyone else who's had this issue) and I just eventually gave up.
I have never said anything, because I never paid him anything, so I'm not out anything. Technically didn't get screwed by him. So I personally have no bitch - other than I really did want to try his pickups at that point, looking for something I wanted to endorse and put in all my guitars. He insisted on just giving me a free set of pickups, even after I said I would pay him. I'm glad I never paid him anything because I know at least one person who I talk to by phone regularly who has paid, gotten some pickups but not everything he paid for...he also went through this long drawn out process of being jerked around. I don't expect this thread to last long and I understand, if it has to be gone to keep things from going bad on Brad's end with this forum.
