I've seemingly lost the desire to play...

I never really have a lot of time to practice. I have a couple of small children at home (2 and 6) so my time is better spent enjoying the daily fun they bring into our lives. That being said I have 4 private contracts to complete in the studio over the next few months so I kind of get my practice in doing that while making a bit of $ on the side of my main occupation.

Balancing time with all of the things going on leaves little room for boredom for me and I'm ok with that!

A little couch time is a good thing. Plus the house to yourself trumps everything. I probably wouldn't play either. Id hit the couch with some makers mark and watch something other than dora the explorer

I hear you. I have been playing for 20+ years now (and I still suck lol) and this past year I have barely even picked up a guitar. I think maybe twice in the last 6 months alone. I went through a stage of gear whoring (thanks RT!) bought and sold a bunch of guitars, tried the digital world etc. Sold it all off except for one guitar and amp and a bunch of pedals. Life just got in the way. I work shift work and have 2 young kids (6 and 8), so between getting up at 2am for work and picking them up from school, I have very little spare time. Also, my wife works when it is my day off so if it's a weekend, I have to watch the kids again. I'm only a bedroom hack these days, so it's not as if my career depends on it, but I seem to have lost the desire for the thing I love the most, playing guitar. I know it will come around again, time and finances allowing :)

I havent really played a whole lot in the last few months either.

Many times when I start hitting a period where I dont play guitar, I get into synths and sound design. I have been doing that a lot lately. I can sit and play with a keyboard or sampler for hours on end although I cant play worth a crap, lol. Love making lots of weird noises.

The guitar will come back one day though. It always does.

Man......never forget what got ya to the dance. Listen to the old tracks, watch the old videos. Grab the ol' prostitute called a guitar and wipe the slate clean.
