Anyone ever try one of these? I just picked one up. It's basically an echoplex preamp in a pedal, and you can loop your delay into it or run it in series.

I gotta say, this pedal is pretty damn awesome. I am running it in series with my boss dm2w and man does this pedal really make the boss dm2w come alive.

I went from being meh about delay to absolutely loving it. Definitely some magic happening. These were only made for a few years and are now discontinued, but I definitely recommend this pedal if you want to turn your boring delay into an echoplex style.

Good stuff.

had one with a belle epoch deluxe in the loop and it really enhanced the sound and feel of the tape delay vibe i was chasing.

I have had a handful of rockett pedals. 2 blue notes, an alien echo, a josh smith tremolo. They were all nice pedals but the alien had digital inside. The josh smith tremolo was very clear and transparent as are the blue notes. Rockett has quite a few nice designs. Congrats lol, hopefully it works good for you.

Interesting. I had the belle epoch deluxe years ago and I remember thinking it was pretty cool. Delay pedals have always come and gone for me though lol. This time around I went with the boss bd2w because I really like its simplicity, and combined with the APE I'm digging it a lot.

The only other J Rockett pedal I had was the archer. It was ok, but klon style pedals never blew me away tbh.

Yeah the APE is working out great! Even when I do not have the delay engaged, the preamp really does enhance the tone of my bass. Kinda rounds things out and the low end is really pleasing.

this is when i first combined the APE and BED.

xotic sp comp in front, then the mono output of the APE/BED went into the chase secret pre for a little more push and treble, then to the dd-500 stereo delay/looper, then stereo output to the H9 for reverb, to the amps.

Man that sounds great! Killer set up you have there too. I had the chase tone secret preamp when I was playing guitar. That was my intro to the whole ep preamp deal. At first I was like wtf is this thing lol, then I figured out its purpose and it became my always on pedal. Loved it! Now the APE is always on for my bass rig too. Such a good pedal.
