Jackson and 250K Tone Pot

Why do a lot of Jackson guitars have 250K tone pots? It totally neuters the overall tone like there is a blanket over it!!! My USA Kelly has it as do two of my Jackson American Virtuoso guitars. My MIJ RR5 has a 500K tone pot along with a MIJ Dinky that I previously owned. It is a simple fit as I just have them removed from the circuit, but why have it in the first place.

It makes it dull sounding with no balls!!! All humbucker pots should be at least 500K.

250k pots are what a Seymour Duncan JB is designed for.

Typically they pair it with a JB - I hate it in some guitars and don't mind it in others. I've clipped the tone pots out of a couple of my Jacksons because of those sounded too dark.

Yes, this is my experience with the JB and 250K pots

I was about to post a new thread until i found this one. So does Jackson use 250k tone pots on all their guitars? I have a 2011 RR1. I pulled the JB out of it after i bought it because I did not like how it sounded in this guitar. And now it seems dark. I agree with another poster that 250k works great with JB's, but I'm now running a Motor City Nuke in this guitar and i don't like how dull it sounds. Figured it has to do with pot values.

Absolutely sounds like you need to swap to a 500k

and IMO JBs sound best with 500k pots anyways
Especially without the tone pot

Depending on what's soldered to the back of the pot, you might be able to see if it says 250k or 500k. But if it had a JB, my guess is that it's 250k.
