I agree its pretty ridiculous ... I know guys on here argue that they only have a couple of qualified builders on hand and that if production speeds up quality will go down . But Jeez Couldnt they at least hire an extra person to respond to emails or maybe even speak to dealers on the phone? Another issue ontop of it all is the mistakes that are made on a regular basis on custom orders , thats nuts. Makes me reconsider even wanting to place an order but I have serious gas pain. Hahahaha :)
From what I was told Fender let some employees go to cut costs.

Ok so I just got a price quote ... This is for a Soloist with one humbucker and a solid color..The color is a custom request but damn the price quote is $3599 ..It would be the same guitar as this but no green pickup and no green headstock logo : http://www.rainbowguitars.com/guitar/ja ... 6148000/fe

I think its back to the drawing board for me , Im going to fill out a new spec sheet with a standard color ththats standard option on there. No special requests this time and see what the price woud be...To much to risk with spending that much on it when it might not even come out like the picture.

Too high considering you can get a Custom for 2500 from a dealer. 3599 and you be would be lucky to get 2K on resale. No thanks.

If that's for a masterbuilt Jackson, that price seems ok. But if it's just going to be a Jackson Select that they modify as it goes down the normal production line, that quote seems a bit crazy.

Is that discounted or list?

Thats the discounted price ! NOT lost , lol

I thought it was a mistake at first and asked Jessica if it was a typo in the email she sent me. She said they must have added a good amount for the color request...and that there prices in general have gone up this year.

My plan is to send her a new spec sheet with a standard color option thats on the order form and see what price they give me on that.

Agreed, thank you.....all I did was ask for a special solid color , which they have actually done in the past already. I could see if it were giing to have a figured top with some kind of a killer bust finish or something

Musiczoo - I've dealt with Tim there for 15 years and have ordered maybe 9 CS Jacksons through him, and he's been nothing but awesome. And you need to have a big dealer on your side for when the build goes awry.. LOL

Ian recommend TMZ to me and I ordered 2 Shannon built guitars thru them. These are some pretty serious, detailed spec'd guitars not run of the mill.

My builds went very smooth and to my door in 18 months. Kurt Walton at Jackson was also helpful.

I went and met Mike Shannon and Kurt right before the build (or very early stage) and I bet that helped.

Yeah, that's a crazy upcharge. Do you have the 2016 custom select option/price list? If not, drop me a PM with your email address and I'll mail it to you - it's a quick and dirty way to figure out roughly what something will cost.

So a little more info on this as I spoke to someone at Rainbow Guitars yesterday.. I called up to see if they have anything similar to what I want on the way. They seem to have Jacksons coming in on a regular.

Anyway the guy there who does all the ordering and dealings with Jackson told me prices have gone up considerably this year. $400 more on the base price and there is some kind of a $200 upcharge for paint he said.......So he claims unless you want an unpainted guitar the cost of ordering a USA select has gone up $600 !

If this is true I might not be ordering one..That would put a simple soloist with no out of the ordinary specs and a solid color around $3k . Im going to get a new quote soon from the music zoo to see if thats the price range.

That's high, but honestly they make such nice guitars I'm having trouble calling it over priced. Just stinks that the price went so high.

I'd look into buying something used and having Pat Wilkins refinish it.
