Anyone play/own one of these? Worth $2k ? Thanks

I've played one, and am a huge Jake fan. I didn't think it was worth the money. Not that it's not a good guitar, just that it would be fairly easy to recreate one using Warmoth or similar quality parts. For $1200-1500 it is more attractive.

Same here, Great guitar for around 1200-1500 for sure

Saw Jake last night. Looks like it has a roasted neck? He had two with him. One in drop d. He beat the piss out of both with his neck bending thing. Seemed to hold up pretty well.

Jake's current Charvels have mahagony necks.

You could easy create his guitar from warmoth for about $600 to $800

That applies to most bolt-ons - you can nominally recreate most strats / teles and their derivatives from Warmoth parts. Doesn't mean you're getting the same quality though..

Warmoth is exceptional quality, I would almost say maybe even better then what you might get from Charvel, it all comes down to is Charvel using a 1 or 2 pc body, since it is a solid color I would almost venture to say they are using multi piece bodies. Other then that the quality of hardware would be up to the person building it, if it was me I would go top notch of course.

Good point on the 2 piece body, but otherwise it's also assuming that the assembler knows how to do a good job - set up included..

90% of the appeal of a charvel is "that" neck shape/feel ........ tough for a home build to get it there imo...they never quite feel the same

Honestly, the Jake neck made me think of my Warmoth Standard Thin neck with 6105 frets. It wasn't a huge difference.

You can get a lot of guitar for $2300; however I've always loved that guitar. Maybe they'll come out with the blue one and really kill me

I'm sure that's coming. If you mean the blueburst, rather than the blue with pickguard..

I was always more a fan of the purple burst ... if either come though it will kill me

Not at all....I have played guitars 2000+ and have ones for under 500 that play better...No need to pay a lot for a guitar if you find the right one ;)

There's this guitar called an OLP MM1. Its a Chinese copy of an EBMM axis super sport. They pop up used at GC every now and again for $80-$100 and I swear that they play better than almost every guitar out there.Cheap doesn't always equal crappy and expensive doesn't always equal great.

You'd actually be getting BETTER quality using Warmoth parts. I have 20 Warmoth builds & the quality is really about as good as you can get.

Funny you mention that. My friend has the Petrucci OLP, and I couldn't believe how great that thing felt! He doesn't even play it anymore, he displays it in his living room because the band signed it, but it was one of the most surprising REALLY cheap guitars I've played.
