There's this guitar called an OLP MM1. Its a Chinese copy of an EBMM axis super sport. They pop up used at GC every now and again for $80-$100 and I swear that they play better than almost every guitar out there.Cheap doesn't always equal crappy and expensive doesn't always equal great.

honestly I have one and have never been able to bond with the neck...in fact I am about to shave it to a shape I like, hopefully that takes it to the next level for me. I also added a thick maple cap to the basswood body just for shits and giggles, really made it come to life tone wise. The stock neck pick up is awesome

Man, am I gonna get roasted for this!!!!! I have a signature squire that is fucking fabulous. It is the crossbones. I have played super strats, custom and this thing for the $ is nothing short of those. Flame away!!!

dude my $80 squire sounds a million times better than my malmsteen strat...it is also made of less pieces of wood (the malm is 4 piece)

90% of the appeal of a charvel is "that" neck shape/feel ........ tough for a home build to get it there imo...they never quite feel the same

Have you ever played a Warmoth Standard Thin? Great necks and even if it wasn't the Jake neck I could always sand it just like he had Charvel do to get it thinner.

Not at all....I have played guitars 2000+ and have ones for under 500 that play better...No need to pay a lot for a guitar if you find the right one

Some of the Charvettes were really good....huge frets and even with the behind the nut string lock they stayed in tune. At least the one I had. Never should have sold it. I actually preferred it to my Jackson. I've got one of the OLP MM1s too. Great little axe.
