On Friday, my wife and I were Jake E Lee's guest at his show in Long Island, N.Y. I had the chance to ask him about the EVH 5150III and gear. Right now he says he loving the Red Channel, but goes back to the Blue every now and then. He started the tour off using the Blue. But now its red all the way. He doesn't like having the gain all the way up as well.
Overall, I think he sounded good. I think he's still struggling somewhat to play the older material. Not bashing him in anyway. He is one of my influences growing up. He has more talent in his pinky than I ever will. I'm simply just giving an opinion. It was an honor to meet him. I've met just about everyone in the business over the last 30 years, and I can say Jake was honestly nice and genuine.
I have enclosed some pictures from the other night and backstage. I have also enclosed a link to 3 of my videos. I should be seeing him again at the end of the month. He was in great spirits, and was very chatty. He had 5 White Charvels with the Mahogany necks with ebony fret board. During some songs, he would tune a string here and there. He seemed comfortable on stage and moved around a lot.
I will try and remember more from the other night. Hope you all enjoy the photos and videos.
Thanks
Patrick
