Don't you think Hetfield is one of the rock guys with the most amount of presence? to me this guy just projects presence. Always found interesting Joe Berlinger's comment about James on a book he wrote about the experience while producing and filming the Some Kind Of Monster documentary:

This is the moment when they were in the hotel having the first meetings with Jason prior to leaving the band and the start of the documentary filming:

We were waiting for singer and guitarist James Hetfield to show up. I was about to learn a cardinal rule of Metallica. Nothing happends without James. If James isn't around, no action shall be taken, no business discussed. Lars is in many ways MEtallica's mouthpiece, but James is the capo.

After a few minutes, James mercifully showed up, accompanies by his full time bodyguard. I instantly noticed that James has an incredible presence. When he walks into a room, the light seems to pool around him. He truly is a rock star, without really trying. I remember even thinking that he carried that powerful aura like a burden. There was something intimidating about him. Someone like James makes me unbearably self conscious. - Joe Berlinger on This Monster Lives Book.

Seems like a pretty interesting dude for sure. Hope to meet him one day on a meet and greet or something.

It sounds like the presence of the Het made this guy's inner gay boy come out...

Seriously.

So Het ran things, he has mad skills as a singer, songwriter, and creator of killer riffs. He is still just a guy. He got pissed on when he had a kid, he was helpless when his kids got sick to fix it, he has his demons that try to kill him, and wait for him to slip up so they can....

I get he is great. But being around recovery programs for going on 19 years, maybe that changes my perspective on people. I'm just not a fanboi to anyone. Billy Gibbons was a very cool cat, he had swagger, charisma....

Maybe since a good many of my face to face conversations with other musicians eventually gets around to how so and so died, or OD'ed, it is a little different. But it would be cool to talk to Het. I would ask more about how he keeps his shit down to earth and does not take all of the adulation too close to heart.

How people that are globally famous stay remotely sane is a huge accomplishment. He must have someone in his life keeping him in check.

But what a great riff writer.

I guess my inner gay boy came out just as much as the ass kissing that sometimes flies around here between forum members right?

I'm also glad you're not fanboy to anyone, it makes you a far superior person

I would never think of Hetfield when I should name "rockstars with charisma", Joey.

Ah, once in a while you just have to start a nuthugging contest about James :emofag: :grim:

Has somebody been hitting the ganja?

I have just seem some popular and famous people struggle up close and personal. We all have demons. No superior people anywhere out there. We are all fucked up, ya just have to spend enough time getting to know somebody to find out their particular weirdness.

Nope, not a fanboi... Not sure how that makes me superior, but thanks for noticing!

Wicked song writer, performer, looks the part.... but in all honesty, always seemed like a bit of a dick to me. Doesn't take away from the band's material. The early stuff is great. Never had this urge to meet hetfield. Have seen enough of his comments live and backstage over the years to see what type of guy he is.

Lennon, Lynott, Bono, Sting, L. Cohen, Morrison, ....

I'm old, yes. :D - but it may be more caused by the pic of Hetfield shopping in (was it?) Paris with short pants and sandals surrounded by bodyguards. Cracks me up . . . but I've also seen this (MTV?) documentary where he was just like the average Joe, which is cool IMO, but I would never call him "charsimatic". Of course he's a huge rockstar due to their success.

This! Like him or not, he owned the stage! Probably the best front man I've ever seen!

Don't be too quick to judge. How someone seems to be "at work" is not always reality, and he might be different in other situations (family, friends, media, etc.), as we all are

Charisma might not be the word that suits best, I'd say he definitely has a type of "presence"
Would I like to meet him? Sure... I'd like to meet pretty much anybody that has done something interesting, whether it's art, life experience, research, etc.

I heard outside of work hes not too bad. A little arrogant at times. DO NOT talk to him about work though. Then you will see another side of him. He does love cars and car shows. Can't remember exactly who it was. My Wife knew someone who met him at a car show. James was very clear when he requested they do not ask him any more questions about Metallica. Cars he liked to talk about. IDK He does have a great stage presence that goes hand in hand with the band's music. Now Lars has a rep of being somewhat of a prick. Seems like he is softening up in his old age though. Kirk is just poor Kirk.

I think Ricky Martin when he was in Menudo had tons of stage presence.......lol

And nobody even mentions "the other guy"

I couldn't care less if music people are "nice" or not, or what their supposed reputation is
Look at Neil Peart, he won't even talk to people, he says if someone he doesn't know starts talking to him, he just leaves. Does that make him an arrogant asshole? I wouldn't think so. Different people interact socially in diverse ways and celebrity just complicates things even more

I don't think he ever was in Sepultura
Mostly Suicidal Tendencies
He also collaborated with Ozzy, BLS and Cantrell
