Interesting to hear all the conflicting opinions of this whole ordeal. Scary stuff. Let's just continue talking about Godzilla! :D

everything on this entire planet is greed driven. you would think with all our technology we would have several back up plans for something like that. Backup plans on top of back up plans. Its like fossil fuels. Are you kidding me? Why are we still using that crap. Greed will destroy everything. Japan doesnt really care about its citizens and neither does the US.

How do you expect to sell anything when you have this attitude? Very childish.

what's so childish about being realistic?

yeah, I dont get where these dudes get this. You live inder a rock? Wake up and smell the raw sewage of reality. Everything I said is 100% dead on. One dude said this is nonesense. Whatever. Obviously you cant do anything about Tidal surges but they could have done more to prevent nuclear problems.

Regardless of his opinion, someone who expects to run and do business here should probably refrain from reacting like a 14 year old whenever someone expressed an negative opinion. It's hilarious that you are insulted by someone calling a statement childish, but decide to come back with the most immature response possible.

Good job.

well at least he had a reason to respond to someone instead of just jumping right into the middle of something and calling someone immature lol

Just what I expected.

its pointless now. Another important topic turned to shit by HCAF ass pokers. We cant discuss anything anymore. Some of these guys hang here with no other intention but to cause problems.

....and back to the issue......

I was kind of buying all the bullshit while the first reactor was in trouble, but Reactor 3 looks destroyed.....I don't know how that thing isn't blowing radiation out into the atmosphere. Every time they say things are under control, or that they expected something to happen, shit gets more out of hand!

exactly, my original point before it got distorted was they need multiple backup plans , like 4 to 6 deep. If that were to happen here in the US we would probably be even less prepared. We have all this money but where does it go. I can tell you where it doesnt go, into backup plans. Finding alternate enerrgy sources should be a very HIGH priority.

Agreed.......alternate energy should be very high on the list of things to do, in my book, but I'm only 1 vote in 300 million.

Bottom line is that this is a disaster of epic proportions, and I don't think anyone would ever be fully prepared for something of this magnitude.

....and now Reactor 2 is in trouble....rods are exposed 80cm.....

Watching Japanese TV live feed on CNN.com , and they are actually pretty upfront about what's going on....

You don't get it do you? The backup plans are to protect the reactor from leaks or from overheating slowly and expectantly. If an act of god suddenly destroys your castle tower, it doesn't matter how thick your walls are or how many trebuchets you have, your king is dead. Blaming the town militia won't do you any good either.

You can't really make backup plans for multiple natural disasters of this magnitude. There were backups plans, but they failed because this was something that couldn't be predicted. Still, Japan will be able to handle this much better than the USA or any other country would.

lets get the guy who knows what is really going on. I never said backup plans for a natural disaster. Im talking baout the backup plan for pumping water in to cool things down. They had 1. Electricity.......it failed for obvious reasons
2. deisel engines.......failed for obvious reasons.
3. Some sort of primitive pumping system .....failed because it was lame.

Were talking about nuclear power. More precautions needed to be in place. They werent beceause of greed and just like our country Japan would rather spend it on something else. Like big screen tv manufacturing. They are structuered in such a way that even if almost totally destroyed, the cooling system will still do its job. I think its clear who's not "getting it"

Well they should have anticipated a Tsunami after an earthquake. They have enough experience with that. Hoping for a quick solution for this. It took how many months to stop an oil leak in the gulf? I would agree that they seem to be reacting better than most countries would. Just wishing the best for them. It must be Hell over there right now.

When you run a nuclear powered country that's home to some the world's most renowned physicists, we'll give you a call.

Never fails, that once an argument is in full swing, someone has got to back up their views by reciting their resume....as if it gives them a superior advantage! Dude, regardless of your viewpoint on any given topic....no one really gives a shit about your academic achievements. Just sayin' :dunno:

Partly Japanese....so is Tiger Woods. Doesn't make him an expert at explaining the culture. But as the OP said, the lies by the Japanese govt are intended to surpress the looting and rioting, as is so common in crime-ridden Japan. Heck, they'll make Haiti and Katrina look like childs play.
