Pretty cool to hear the difference a tranny swap makes.

they both sound good to me, what year is that 800

both sounds good to me as well.. so the $21 question... Was it worth the purchase price?

It's a 2203x - I got it a couple years ago used, but I'm not sure the exact year.

Yeah, I like the tone with the MM. With the Marshall tranny it sounds a bit scooped to me - with the MM tranny it seems like more low mid and a smoother top end and I do prefer that sound. If I was looking for more a metal sound, I'd probably go with the original tranny.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if a recording would really "show" the difference since I expected the amp to feel different more than sound different. But I can defnitely hear a difference.

I remember you telling me you were going to change it. That was pretty quick. Unfortunately, I am unable to hear your clip here at work. I will check it out at home. +1 on hearing the difference of the tranny.

They both sound great but I like the mm a bit better. Really has that bogner blue channel thing happening or vice versa.

I like it. I've been thinking about picking up a 2203x and replacing the OT with a Marstran.

I've had the tranny sitting here a couple weeks, just now found time to stick it in - it took me about 45 minutes. That's my 1st time to change a tranny - I was a bit nervous!

Yeah, I like the MM a bit better too. The sound suits my playing style a bit better than the one I took out.

Does the amp feel like your playing a different amp or is it just the variables of tone changed?

It defnitely feels different - before when I would do fast alternate picking stuff, or even legato lines, I felt like I was fighting the amp a bit - with the MM it feels like the amp is working with me - like the plexi does. It still isn't as good as the plexi is at that, but it is a lot closer, and I really like the 2203x a lot more than I did - I think the MM added 2 years to my playing :D

Both clips sound great but there seems to be more of a growl on the MM clip. I don't know if that is just my perception though. Either way, great clips! I really like the lead tone!

I have so many jokes bouncing around in my head with this post. I kind of feel like Beavis or Butthead right now.
