That you can access the trim pots for send and return level through the jack holes is pure genius on the Granger

I love the Metro loop. I've done several installs of these and it's quite simple and they sound great. Here's one I installed last night in a '76 2204

I have a metro loop on my super lead clone, but it's not the best solution, IMO. It just won't get that lush "wet" effect. It's good for some delay, but I can't get the delay level very high until it sounds like crap. It sounds moderately better than the delay out front. For JCM, if you're not running your MV very high, it should work better. For a NMV amp, it just doesn't work all that great. As the guy from Carol-Ann amps said, an effects loop in a NMV amp is like fitting a square into a circle.

Now I'm not discounting that something else is wrong with my amp or that I've installed it wrong or even a faulty unit, but I've been over it multiple times and SDM even helped me out with it over email. Not a knock to the metro loop, just to the idea of installing an effects loop in an amp that wasn't designed for that purpose.

I think the best solution for these types of amps is a wet/dry setup. A hassle and not convenient, but the best solution.

iron sounds makes a great loop as well . I have installed 2 of them in my amps and they are transparent and work great . I know you already modded yours just putting this out there for whouever wants to know .

Well , had a chance to crank it last night.. i swear i hear a bit of a diff with it engaged vs not. Might be that i am using a weber legacy still sitting in the combo which essentially is open back with a vent on the top from the chassis not being there o i am getting a lot of flub. ( that speaker really needs a closed back)

So my question is, when setting levels, do you guys have the effects plugged in or removed? I think i hear it either way an am testing both ways.No problem with the quality of the delays or verbs though, just some coloration I am trying to get rid of.

Can anyone compare the Metro to the Granger Loop. I like the fact that the Granger has adjustable levels on it but it hasn't been out long enough to have much for real world evaluations on it compared to the Metro loop.

I know the metro loop works well and was installed in the CCV amp design which says alot but I know some people were having issues with the Metro loop as well. I know there is a trim pot on the inside of the metro is that send/return level or overal level adjsutment?

Any real world recommendations here?

I had one (custom design by John Nau w/send and return levels) installed on my 1981 2203.No regrets. It's extremely transparent and it can be switched out of the circuit

Well so far the pros of the granger:

1. adjustable levels send/return
2. switched out completely doesn't affect a thing

Cons:

I think i hear some coloration but i am a tone nazi.

DEF. hear a tone change. Cuts the lows a bit for me. Not liking it more I play it.. :aww: Oh well, devalued my 4010 for no reason lol. I've been up and down the input and output levels too. With it engaged, I hear it. Maybe some type of buffer on there..
