Really sucks that he's gone. I was actually surprised that NBC mentioned him and showed some Slayer clips while talking about his death. Shows you how influential Slayer was. There are only a handful of thrash bands where a death like that would make national news. RIP

I still can't believe this...still in shock...

A little birdy told me connected to the industry VERY well, that it's "possible" Jeff had been drinking a shit ton, and not rehabing his arm like he was supposed to...This is speculation, and will probably never be part of the true story, but that's just what I'm hearing. I guess what makes it even worse, is that it may have been completely preventable. But who knows, doesn't matter now, however you do not die from liver failure over night. Complications from the toxins could have very well been playing havoc on his system, even outside of the necrotizing facsciitis. The media must have really had this under wraps, after all he did play some of a show in california last summer sometime.

The guy is of course a legend. I'm just happy I got to see them about 15 times live. They are literally the heaviest band live still, on the planet, I don't care what the fuck anyone else says....Kids today just do not get it. There live show in a fucking machine, and destroyed all. As much as I would like to play with them, I'm not sure that I would, given the fact of how insane they sound live. This is an absolute shame.....

RIP Jeff...

Never liked that band at all...... but I also never like to hear of a human life ending especially at an earlier age. My condolences to his fans friends and family.

Not the news I wanted to hear on a Friday. Was really hoping to get to hear another album with Jeff on it. He was one of the great metal rhythm players and one of the fathers of thrash. Rock In Peace Jeff!

The Big Four should do a benefit tour for his family...did he have a wife and kids ?

Such Devastating News!
RIP Jeff!

Thank you for sharing your gift of music with us for so many years!

This has even been a topic on national radio, television and newspapers in The Netherlands. Normally nothing about metal is in the news over here. He had such a major impact on the music. Again, RIP Jeff.

Probably one of the biggest names in Metal to pass away in a while. Right up there with Dimebag, Dio and Scaccia.

I was never a huge Slayer fan but really liked a few of their songs and being an 80's metal guy, understand the impact Slayer had on Thrash. As much of an Anthrax, Megadeth, and Metallica fan I am, Slayer stayed true to their sound the whole way thru. It is sad that Jeff had to be replaced due to his health. Like others have speculated, I get the impression that the spider bite was not the only health issue. It had to be hard for him sitting at home watching his band move on without him.

I see the Westboro Baptist Faggots are going to protest. Not the best of moves for the religious morons. They could be "Swimming in Blood" if they fuck around here.
