Wow. I'm really shocked to hear that. Thought he was recovering. RIP Jeff.

Damn shame, this. One of the reigning Kings of Thrash.

RIP Jeff.

Wow, that sucks. I have been a slayer fan since the 80's. Always remember how fuckin nuts those slayer shows in Philly were with Jeff. Gonna crank some south of heaven and seasons tonight.

Jeff was a HUGE part of Slayer. Lyrics, music, imagery and themes.
In a way he WAS Slayer. KK is like a wingman/copilot, Araya never impressed me, and Lombardo was in and out. The band could function without it.
This is probably the end of Slayer and we knew them.
No doubt they will continue in his honor, but likely just as a shadow of the band we all knew and loved.

George Jones and Jeff Hanneman in a week. Sad news!! Time for shots for two of my heroes.

The music those guys wrote had a profound impact on me as a musician. Sad to read about Jeff's passing at such a young age. I'll raise my glass to this total badass tomorrow evening with my colleagues.

God rest his soul. Architect of some of the most ferocious riffs of all time...Bar NONE. We love you Jeff.

I've been a fan since Haunting the Chapel and am completely surprised and sad. RIP

No shit.. RIP. They had some pretty huge landmark albums. Such a unique sound in the early days and he was a large part of it. I hope this doesn't mean more shitty Kerry King solos :(

Anyone know if the "spider" was a spider or if it was booze?

The original condition (internal infection, tissue degrading bacteria) was confirmed to have been caused by a spider bite, and rare condition resulting from it. That being said, the liver failure may be connected...completely separate....Or some combination of the two: Serious blood / tissue infections are known to be hard on internal organs, the barrage of IV / oral antibiotics used to treat these conditions...Also hard on the internal organs. Combine that with heavy drinking (IF THAT WAS INDEED THE CASE)...Not a good combination.

:aww:

:salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

Said it before and will say it again, 2013 hasn't been doing many favors in the "loss" department of musical icons.

RIP .... They always had great shows when I have seen them.

I wonder if it was staph and not a spider bite... bad stuff
