Actually it is in front of the amp to clean it up. It's in a loop so it cleans it up like your volume knob on you guitar. So when the loop is in its cleaned up to certain setting.

I only want vocals in the monitors, guitars usually sound like crap to me through regular monitors, having an actual guitar cab as a guitar monitor makes perfect sense, and could let you have lower stage volume if necessary too

I was at that show and it was awesome. The sound usually isn't that good in that room but they really had it dialed in that night. Think I'll go again next month.
